Remember earlier this week when Australia routes were on sale but only from the largest airports? Pfft, why stop there: the “everywhere in America to Australia” prices are back again today. Sydney seems to have the most availability, with Melbourne and Brisbane also providing numerous options. The previously noted Los Angeles fare of $608 is still live, but all the previous airports plus many smaller ones are pricing in the $714 – $740 range, with Seattle and Portland just over $800. This means many more cities not listed below are also included, so check your nearby airports to see if you can grab a good deal from close to home. Interestingly, the 2 largest airports not included are Phoenix and Atlanta. Fares are good from later this month into December, including summer dates. Participating cities I was able to verify:
- Washington, D.C.
- Raleigh
- St. Louis
- Houston
- Denver
- Cleveland
- Las Vegas
- Boise
- Pittsburgh
- Birmingham
- San Diego
- Oklahoma City
—you get the gist.
These are main cabin economy fares, including seat selection, carry-ons, and checked bags. Fares are offered by all the major airlines but be aware that some routes seem to reprice when booked directly. Use online travel agencies such as Orbitz or Expedia or change travel dates to ensure lowest pricing if you have the flexibility. If you are concerned about prices dropping further remember that fares marketed in the US have a 24-hour refund guarantee, allowing you to cancel and re-book within that time. Make sure to apply for your Australian Electronic Travel Authorization (E-Visa, similar to the coming requirement for travel to Europe) before you go to ensure you’re allowed to board your flight.
