Wyndham is rarely the first on a list of people’s favorite hotel programs, and for good reason. They are heavy on budget properties and light on anything of real quality.

But there is definitely value to be found in the program, if you know how and where to look. And Wyndham sometimes runs very valuable promotions, such as the current promotion that just launched.

How does a free night sound?

Both Dan and I received an email offering “one free night” after two stays at any Wyndham hotel. In reality, you are awarded 15,000 points, which you can redeem for a free night at nearly any Wyndham hotel. You could also use the 15,000 points for 5 “Go Fast” awards, which is Wyndham’s version of Points & Cash. You can sometimes clear 2-3 cents per Wyndham point used in this fashion.

The key to making the promotion worth something is all in where you earn the points and where you plan to burn them. Many uber-budget Wyndham hotels routinely go for $30-$50 per night, so finding something nearby where you can earn a free night for less than $100 out of pocket is plausible. Maybe you could even make a weekend getaway of it in a nearby city.

On the other end, the promotion is only worth it if you can get serious value out of your free night. There are some fantastic Wyndham properties around the world, but you have to know where they are. One of my favorite targets is San Francisco, where hotels are expensive, both in terms of cash and points. There are places bookable on Wyndham points that regularly run $300 per night. Napa is another good option.

To qualify for the bonus points/free night, you must register for the promotion by June 30, 2018 and complete your second stay with checkout no later than July 1, 2018.

Conclusion

Overall, this is a fantastic promotion if you already have some Wyndham stays planned. Even if you don’t in the near future, it is arguably mattress-run worthy if your two stays will cost you somewhere south of $100 and you can use the 15,000 points for 2x of 3x that much.

Do you think you’ll be earning a free night with Wyndham this Spring?
