We have talked before about using shopping portals as a way to earn a little extra money. But right now, Capital One Shopping is running a promo in an attempt to get people to download their browser extension and use their shopping portal
Easy $200 From Capital One Shopping
Key Link: Capital One Shopping Link (this is originally a $200 referral link for both sides, but there is a limit to how many people you can refer I think, so it may change to a lower amount at some point.)
To get your (up to) $200 from Capital One Shopping, there are only a few simple steps:
- To qualify for a referral sign up bonus, the person you refer must be a new Capital One Shopping user
- Then sign up and install the Capital One Shopping desktop computer or mobile browser extension. Here is my Capital One Shopping Link which at least started out at $200 (I do expect this deal to die quickly)
- Make Qualifying Purchase(s) totaling $10 within 30 days of signing up.
How Do Shopping Portals Work
Shopping portals are one of the easiest ways to earn extra airline miles and hotel points. If you’re not familiar with what a shopping portal is, basically you go to a website affiliated with a airline / hotel / bank before you do your online shopping, and by doing so, you will get a percentage of your order as a rebate. It can be either miles, points, or cash back, depending on the portal and on what is most valuable to you.
Often shopping portals run promotions, but we have rarely (if ever) seen such a high bonus just for installing the browser extension and making only a $10 purchase.
The Bottom Line
Key Link: Capital One Shopping Link
This should hopefully be a pretty easy deal to do – even if you aren’t able to grab a $200 referral bonus, even a $100 bonus or lower can still be worth it. I am not sure if the Capital One browser extension will be actually helpful, but for $200 I will certainly check it out!
Just don’t forget to make that $10 purchase within 30 days of opening up your account.
Good luck and happy shopping!

I clicked your Capital One Shopping Link, and installated the extension but there is no way to actually sign-up/register. So where do I do the inital registration for step 1. ?
For me, when I installed the browser extension, the Capital One Shopping site opened in a new tab. https://capitaloneshopping.com/
Thank you. Got the $200 bonus today!!
Awesome – glad it worked out for you and thank YOU for applying through my link 🙂
Thank you for this, Dan. I used your link on 12/10 and made the qualifying purchase, but noticed there was some fine print about Capital One limiting the number of bonuses per referrer. Because of this fine print, I wasn’t surprised when nothing seemed to come of it later in December. I checked in today and found that six “referral bonuses” of $200 each for $1,200 total had been credited to my account over the last 8 days. I grabbed the gift cards right away! Anyone else that used Dan’s link should keep an eye on their account.
Great – I’m glad that was able to work for you!
