Well, it was probably only a matter of time, but after Delta’s announcement earlier in the year, United has followed suite by moving to a revenue-based frequent flyer program.
Just like Delta’s, you will earn miles based on the cost of your ticket, with a booster based on your level of elite status
The funny thing is that not only is United following in Delta’s wake by doing this, it is LITERALLY EXACTLY THE SAME (down to the 5/7/8/9/11 multipliers in place)
Ah well, it’s fine for us. With large families, we don’t chase elite status anyways, and we get our miles mostly by credit card spending. So for that, I’d prefer a change to the frequent flyer program rather than a devaluation of the award chart (which, sadly, United has already done this year too….)
What about you? Will this affect how you fly United?
