I wasn’t expecting to take advantage of the United Club Cleveland (CLE), but I brought 2 of my 5,000 United Club day pass cards (slight exaggeration) just in case I needed them. We spent most of our waiting time at the Airspace Lounge Cleveland but the decision to bring those day passes turned out to be quite fortuitous, as our flight from Cleveland was delayed due to mechanical issues
(SEE ALSO: 6 things to do if your flight is delayed – AKA how not to ruin your dream trip)
Not only did we visit the United Club Cleveland to just hang out / use wi-fi / eat snacks, we were also able to get superb service from the lounge attendants in helping to rebook our flight / make sure we got to where we needed to go when we needed to get there.
United Club Cleveland location, cost and membership
The United Club Cleveland is in Concourse C at Cleveland Hopkins International Airport (CLE). Gates C16-C29 in Concourse C at CLE are a big circle at the end of Concourse C, and the United Club Cleveland is located right before you get to this circle, between gates C14 and C16.
To access the United Club Cleveland or any other United Club location, you can
- be a Premium Cabin traveler going internationally (or on select trans-con flights)
- be a Star Alliance Gold members traveling internationally or on a Star Alliance flight
- have a United Club membership
- have a United Club one-day pass. These come with many credit cards including the United Explorer card. Personally I have a ton of these and can never seem to actually use them.
- be active duty military
- have Amtrak Guest Rewards® Select Plus
- have Air Canada Maple Leaf™ Club membership
- pay $59 (please never do this)

There is plenty of seating at the United Club Cleveland
This is probably a leftover from when Cleveland was a hub for Continental Airlines before the United / Continental merger. Similar to the size of the Delta Skyclub in CVG
(SEE ALSO: The curious case of Delta and CVG)
The United Club Cleveland also has a room with stadium seating, which I found interesting
United Club Cleveland food
The food at the United Club Cleveland is tolerable if you’re hungry, but nothing super special and comparable to what you’ll find at other United Club locations (or Delta Skyclubs or American AAdmirals Clubs). They have a thing of hot soup, cheese and crackers, cookies and other assorted things.
Personally, if you have access, the food at the Airspace Lounge Cleveland Airport is significantly better than anything else here (and included in your admission price!) Certainly if you’re paying cash – I’d way sooner pay $20 to the Airspace Lounge than $59 to the United Club Cleveland airport!
Cleveland airport lounge United Club amenities
Wifi was fast (faster than the Airspace Lounge) and there was plenty of comfortable seating. There is a family room for kids and families. We were traveling sans kids on this trip to the Cleveland United Club but this would have been great if we’d had the whole family with us.
They also had lockers and other places to store luggage, as well as an array of conference rooms and work cubicles.
So while the United Club Cleveland airport was a step up from the terminal, it’s not one that I would go out of my way to access (and certainly not for $59!).

“pay $59 (please never do this)”
While it is clear you do not care for the bar – it is one of the major attractions for many to unwind in such a lounge. At least a mention would be helpful for a real lounge review. It does not need to be sensationalized, but at least a mention. In addition to a wide array of alcohol, you can get soda, juice, coffee and many more drinks. I’m not going to slam you if you have beliefs that keep you from the bar, but honestly that is akin to doing a review for a rib festival and not mentioning the ribs. Takes the pop out of doing a review – sure the music was great, the snacks were great, but it was after all a rib festival . . . Just say’n. BTW, for those wondering: the bar at the CLE lounge is pretty good.
Thanks Dale – it’s not that I am trying to judge anyone – it’s just that as someone who doesn’t drink alcohol, I have no context to make an opinion on the quality of alcohol at the bar. I’m not sure I could make a good comparison between say, a Sam Adams IPA and Miller Lite (hoping that this is metaphor makes sense!?!?! 😀 ). But you’re right though and I should at least mention it and perhaps take a picture of some of the alcohol as well. If I’m there for awhile (like I was in the Unite Club Cleveland!) and the bar isn’t too busy, I will also talk to the bartender and get his/her thoughts on what is good
Honestly the bartenders are very helpful at this location – as are the folks at the service desk*. Too bad they are not as busy since UA pulled the plug on the CLE hublet status. Hope they keep the lounge.
Not trying to push alcohol, but a pic and something along the lines of “they appear to have a good selection” would be helpful. Your reviews are really quite good, I’m just trying to humbly ask that they provide a more complete picture.
*Slightly biased as I’m from CLE – my go to airport.
You know what they call Cleveland right? Does “mistake by the lake” sound familiar?
Hey now!
I’ve never been in the United Club in Cleveland, but that doesn’t really matter as pretty much all of them in the Continental United States are bad. Let’s see, for around $500 a year you get access to an area often more crowded than the gate you’re avoiding plus access the the absolute cheapest amenities United can find. The highlight of the “buffet” is the canned soup, the only warm offering, while the complimentary beer and wine is the bottom of the barrel. People jostle for discount grocery cheese cubes and stale rolls. I calculated I paid something like $25 per bowl of soup consumed in the club this year. Not worth it. Coffee is okay, though.
On the up side, if you can, go to any other Star Alliance lounge even if that means a gate transfer. These pretty much all blow United away as they don’t stock only the bargain basement snacks and drinks. Also United Clubs outside the United States are good (with eggs at breakfast and so on).
That…. about sums it up 🙂 I would definitely not pay the going rate for a United Club (or any other airline club) membership
