Recently I took a flash trip to visit my son out at college in Utah. My alma mater (University of Cincinnati) was playing in the NIT @ Utah Valley in nearby Orem, so I thought it would be fun and a great use of miles and points to take a quick trip out there. I stayed 2 nights in 2 separate hotels – my first stay was at the Hyatt House Provo / Pleasant Grove. This Hyatt House Provo / Pleasant Grove review will give an idea of the different amenities and features and hopefully help you decide if you want to stay here if you’re in the area.
Hyatt House Provo / Pleasant Grove location
The first thing to know about the Hyatt House Provo / Pleasant Grove is that it is not in Provo. It’s in Pleasant Grove, Utah, which is a few miles up I-15 from Provo. It was about a 40 minute drive from the Salt Lake City airport and about a 25 minute drive from BYU campus in Provo. Its address is 544 South Pleasant Grove Blvd, Pleasant Grove, Utah 84062 and is a few minutes off of Exit 275 of I-15.
Checkin was fast and I was able to get an early checkin (I got there about noon) and a late checkout (till 2pm the next day). I was welcomed as a (lowly) Discoverist member and given a welcome amenity with a bar of chocolate, trail mix and a bottle of water. Though not just ANY water, but IONIZED ALKALINE WATER. I mean it has a pH of 9.5! NINE POINT FIVE!!! 🙂
One strange thing at checkin is that the college-aged girl checking me in asked me if my wife was traveling with me today. I said no, but then thought that was a bit of a strange question to ask someone? I mean I am 99.999% sure that she was not hitting on me, but I also couldn’t figure out what question she was ACTUALLY trying to ask. Maybe how many keys I wanted? But then wouldn’t you just ask “how many keys do you want?” I dunno….
Hyatt House Provo / Pleasant Grove cost
Cash prices at the Hyatt House Provo / Pleasant Grove range anywhere from $100 to $200 or more, depending on what is going on. On my dates, the cash price was around $140, and about $170 after tax. You can check prices for your nights at the Hyatt House Provo / Pleasant Grove at HotelsCombined or Hotels.com. You can also read Hyatt House Provo / Pleasant Grove reviews at TripAdvisor.
This makes using points an outstanding deal. I booked this in March 2023 when this was a Category 1, meaning it only cost 5,000 points per night, giving me about 3.4 cents per point in value. The Hyatt House Provo / Pleasant Grove is moving up to a Category 2 at the end of March 2023 where it will cost 8,000 points a night for a standard booking, which is still an excellent deal.
Hyatt House Provo / Pleasant Grove review – parking
Hyatt House Provo / Pleasant Grove parking is free and extensive. I did not ever have trouble finding a place to park. In addition to the main door, there are exterior doors on either wing if your room is closer to those doors.
The Hyatt House Provo / Pleasant Grove also has a complimentary shuttle that will take you anywhere within a 5 mile radius of the hotel. That won’t include the airport, but it will go to the Pleasant Grove public transportation station where you could catch the Frontrunner to/from the SLC airport.
Hyatt House Provo / Pleasant Grove review – rooms
I booked a 2 queen room at the Hyatt House Provo / Pleasant Grove, which also came with a desk and TV.
The bathroom was right when you came in to your right.
Hyatt House Provo / Pleasant Grove WiFi and amenities
Wifi is complimentary in the lobby and in the guest rooms for World of Hyatt members. I have been measuring hotel wifi speed for several years, and I don’t think that I have ever seen hotel wifi this fast.
As far as other amenities go, there is guest laundry available on several of the floors. It was $2 for washing and $2 for drying. Laundry supplies are available for purchase at the H Market by the front desk.
The Hyatt House Provo / Pleasant Grove exercise room is on the first floor and has a variety of equipment (also one bike and two ellipticals off screen). There is an outdoor pool and hot tub but it was closed when I was there in March (since it was literally snowing)
There is a small business center which is just 2 computers in the lobby.
Hyatt House Provo / Pleasant Grove food
Hyatt House Provo / Pleasant Grove breakfast is complimentary and had your standard fare of eggs, hash browns, bacon and French Toast sticks, along with various cold items and juices
They also have the “H Market” by the front desk with various food, medicines, laundry supplies and other assorted items.
Prices are fairly ridiculous so plan ahead
There is also the “H Bar” in the lobby that serves food and drinks in the evening, but it was either closed or already closed for the day when I got back in the evening. I did not see a sign indicating if it was open or not.
Hyatt House Provo / Pleasant Grove hotel review – the bottom line
Overall this was a good stay if you need to stay in the Provo area. I would mostly recommend it on points but if you can pick it up on a cheap cash rate it could make sense. If you’re planning on visiting Provo or BYU, I might suggest staying closer into Provo as it got a bit annoying making the 25 minute drive to campus multiple times a day.

Maybe the speed is a Hyatt thing. I’m currently at the HP ABQ Sunport and the speed is consistently 125-130. Like you, I don’t think that I have ever seen one that high before. Also, no laundry at this one. That stinks since I am here 18 nights.
