The second of three hotels that I stayed at during my trip to Stockholm was the Hilton Stockholm Slussen.  On Sunday morning, we checked out of the Clarion Hotel SignInvalid request error occurred. (read my review, check hotel prices) and made our way 2 stops on the T-bana (subway) to the Slussen stop.  The Hilton Stockholm Slussen is about a 10 minute walk from the Slussen metro stop and is situated right on the southern edge of Lake Malaren, overlooking Gamla Stan (the Old Town) and the Stockholm city center.

Hilton Stockholm Slussen location / view

The address for the Stockholm Slussen Hilton is GULDGRÄND 8, BOX 15270, STOCKHOLM, 10465, SWEDEN which should be sufficient if you are taking a taxi / uber.  It’s located on the southern edge of Lake Malaren, just over the bridge from Gamla Stan – an easy walk and very visible right on the waterfront

As I mentioned above, we arrived via the T-bana (subway) and it’s a short walk from the Slussen station.  On our way back Sunday evening, we took the commuter train (Pendletag) and it’s about a 10 minute walk from the Stockholm Sodra commuter rail station as well.

Hilton Stockholm Slussen rooms

I have Diamond (top-tier) elite status with Hilton and I was “upgraded” to a room on the top (5th) floor with a view of the lake and Gamla Stan across the lake

One odd thing was that the room I had on the 5th floor was in a wing of the hotel that was separate from the rest of the hotel.  So if I wanted to visit the executive lounge on the 4th floor, I had to go down from 5 to the lobby and then take a separate elevator up to the 4th floor.  The room itself was nothing special but had all the basics

a bathroom with marble walls and sink

One thing I especially enjoyed after the power adapter disaster at the Clarion Hotel Sign was that the Hilton Slussen Stockholm Sweden hotel had a US power outlet in the room itself – no adapter needed!

Hilton Stockholm Slussen executive lounge review

One of the benefits of being a top-tier elite member with Hilton or any other chain is lounge access.  The Hilton Stockholm Slussen hotel has an executive lounge which is located on the 4th floor.  It does serve a light breakfast in the mornings

a buffet table with food on it

(though as mentioned, if you have access, the breakfast in the hotel restaurant downstairs is much better).  The Hilton Stockholm Slussen lounge does serve a “happy hour” from 6 to 8pm each day, which is code for “dinner”

(SEE ALSO: Which hotels give dinner for free)

The hot food was fish balls which my son really liked because he thought they were chicken nuggets until I told him they were fish 🙂 and french fries. I would imagine this food selection change daily.  There were also a light selection of cheeses, cookies and fruits and of course, free alcohol

After we checked out on Monday morning and stowed our luggage with the concierge, we stopped back by the Stockholm Hilton about 4pm and asked if they would give us a lounge key card so that we could relax, dry off and get a few snacks.  Here’s an example of the types of things that I assume are available while the lounge is open

Hilton Stockholm Slussen breakfast / dining / food

As mentioned, the Hilton Stockholm Slussen executive lounge offers a light breakfast in the morning, snacks throughout the day and an evening happy hour from 6-8 pm.  As a Diamond, I also had access to the breakfast buffet in the hotel restaurant, which was substantial – here is a small portion of the food available

I had an omelet from the station and talked to the chef there who as it turned out was from Peru.  We talked a bit, in Spanish, about my recent trip to Machu Picchu, Cuzco and Lima. (READ MORE: 5 tips for visiting Machu Picchu including the one thing I wish I’d brought)

My son had these monstrosities for breakfast which looked disgusting but according to him was quite delicious

Hilton Stockholm Slussen amenities

The Hilton Stockholm Slussen does have a (quite large) fitness center, which is located down on the 1st floor – one level down from the entrance.

I do not believe there is a swimming pool, and there is a business center as well as computers in the lobby for simple tasks like printing boarding passes.

Hilton Stockholm Slussen hotel review

The Hilton Stockholm Slussen was a great hotel and we found it fairly reasonably priced (33,000 Hilton Honors points).  If you are able to find it around that price, I definitely recommend it!  The other dates of our stay were all around 70,000 or 80,000 points and make it a bit less attractive.  Even the date I booked the hotel ended up being closer to 80,000 after I had booked it
