Southwest Airlines has launched an international fare sale; check your email for one titled “Your post-worthy paradise is on sale.” It’s a pretty widespread sale, with destinations in Mexico, the Caribbean, and Central America seeing discounts. This sale is for late summer and early fall travel, and the prices are quite good in many cases, especially with Southwest’s free baggage policy. Unfortunately, since this is focused on international destinations, Hawaii is not included in this sale. That’s been the norm since SWA began Hawaiian flights, so while disappointing it’s not surprising. Also, fares are for Tuesday and Wednesday travel, meaning it works best if you’ve saved your vacation time. There are some good weekend prices during this time period to these destinations as well, but those discounts are a little less common as you might expect. Whenever Southwest hosts a sale, make sure you check any existing flights you have already purchased. Southwest has no change fees, and if the sale price is lower you will receive a credit for the difference usable for future SWA fares. Plus, if you are unsure after you buy one of these flights, remember that any fare marketed in the US is free to cancel within 24 hours. These fares are valid for travel August 20 – October 30th . If you’re going, make sure you buy/recheck prices quickly: sale ends on April 25th at 11:59 PM Pacific Time.
