Every few months, Starbucks releases a fun way to get you hooked on caffeine win some bonus food, drinks, and stars. From now through January 6th, 2020, you can earn prizes with the Starbucks for Life Game here.
How to Play the Starbucks for Life Game
There are two main ways to play:
- Make a purchase with a registered Starbucks card. If you’re purchasing at Starbucks, you’ll usually want to use your Starbucks card anyway, to make sure you earn your stars even without a promotion.
- Submit the form here to earn plays without making a purchase. Make sure the information you fill out in the form matches your Starbucks account information!
The terms limit you officially to two plays per day, but I was able to submit the form three times today for three plays, twice under the “Holly’s Jolly Quest”, and once under the “Daily Play” selection. Since I completed the first tier of the first challenge, I earned a bonus play! You can find both of these options under the “Select a challenge” option on the top of the form. Once you submit the form, Starbucks will email your registered Starbucks email account, with a link to play the game a few minutes later. Try it out and see what you get!
I also made a purchase at Starbucks (ordered ahead) around 1PM today, but haven’t yet received my play for that purchase. It’s possible I won’t get an additional play for my purchase, since I already played the game four times today.
How to Win
In order to win a prize, you’ll need to match up some of the icons on your gameboard. Once you get three of a kind, you’ll earn the prize indicated on your board. I’ve included a screenshot of my gameboard above. Don’t be fooled, I wouldn’t bet my money on getting the third icon to match!
Each week, you can also complete challenges to earn extra pieces, as indicated below. Although the challenges are hidden in the gameboard, you can view them in the full rules of the game here.
If you get three duplicates of any prize, you’ll earn a bonus play that day.

So can your icons be different ones but fill up one spot let say you get 3 icons for Starbucks for 6 months but they al look different is that a winner or not ?
I don’t believe they have to match, but I’m not totally sure
Well, after playing all available opportunities so far in 2019, have only gotten one instant prize of 10 points and a board full of two game pieces out of three. Last year, got maybe 140 bonus points as an instant prize. This is the most pitiful waste of time yet. Don’t think I’ll bother with future Starbucks contests.
