Most times when you’re looking for a hotel, you’re looking for a room in a specific place. When I’m booking hotels in a known destination, I often will use Award Mapper
(SEE ALSO: Award Mapper – finding hotel rooms)
But there are also cases when you’re taking a longer road trip, and you need intermediate hotels along the way. In that case, IHG has a way to find hotels along a route
This is from the main IHG.com site, but there is a similar link on all the brand pages (HolidayInn.com, etc.). Once you click the link, you’re taken to a page where you can enter your origin and destination, along with a few other filters, such as specific brands to include/exclude, distance from route, etc.
You can zoom in and around, and it will show you the different hotel options that you have to find hotels along a route.
Other hotel sites that let you find hotels along a route
There are other hotel brands that also give you the ability to find hotels along a route. Here’s a screenshot from La Quinta, showing their ability to find hotels along a route
I actually like La Quinta’s interface a little better, as they don’t group the hotels, letting you individually pick out the hotels that you find along a route
According to Internet research, Marriott used to have the ability to find hotels on a route, but no longer offers it. I also could not find any ways to find hotels along a route for Club Carlson, Best Western, Hilton, SPG / Sheraton or Hyatt.
Did you know about the ability that certain hotel chains have to find hotels along a route? Did I miss any chains that offer it? Let us know in the comments

Thanks. This works well if you’re sticking to one brand and that brand of hotel is in the locations you need. I’ve always just used Google maps to search for hotels in an area. Zoom to the area you’re interested in and then in the search box, type hotels or B&B. You’ll find all kinds of hotels, so I’m not stuck with just one brand.
You’re right that it’s limited to only these 2 brands. The problem with using Google (or Award Mapper) for a route is for situations where you’re not looking in a specific city but more along a destination.
Looks as if IHG has removed this function…
IHG has removed this otpion best I can tell, dang it
so far your site has not been very usefull, could find and IHG site that asks for route info nor could I find route info on the LaQuinta site????
FYI – when La Quinta was sold last year their new owner saw fit to eliminate finding their hotels along specific route. As a member of their rewards program for many years I sent new owner my disappointment in decision. They basically didn’t care, shame!!!
sadly, la quinta changed it’s website and this search option is no longer available. I called and they can work with you over the phone, but their system for doing that is not available to mere mortals.
