Southeast Asia is full of wonderful places to visit. But for Americans the trip can be daunting, especially from the east coast where long flight times and multiple layovers can mean either a day of agony crammed into small seats, or 2 days stuck in the back of a plane. Last October, Singapore Airlines launched the world’s longest flight from New York to Singapore, aiming to provide a better experience for long-distance travelers. The flight is a daunting 18+ hours long, but all seats are either premium economy or business class seats. If you’re looking to visit SE Asia from the east coast, now is a great time to go, as Singapore Air has put numerous destinations on sale from New York. Round trips to Singapore are as low as $1072, $500 cheaper than normal, but connections to nearby cities are actually cheaper than staying in Singapore. The following cities are all pricing around $995 round trip. (SEE ALSO: Singapore Changi Airport the “World’s Best Airport” for 5th Consecutive Year)

Singapore’s PE seats are in a 2-4-2 layout, with 38″ of pitch between you and the seat in front, and are 19″ wide. The fare also includes “book the cook” options for pre-ordering meals before the flight. Connections to the other cities are in main cabin economy, though the flights are of course much shorter. Layovers range from an hour to 18 hours. l normally I would not mention fares with such long layovers, but after such a long flight the chance to explore a fantastic city like Singapore might be just what you need, and a chance to make two trips out of one fare. This price was offered for less than 24 hours a few weeks ago, so I would not expect it stick around any longer today; if you want to take the current world record longest flight and see some of Asia’s best cities and resorts act fast. (SEE ALSO: How to Cross the  Border from Singapore to Malaysia)
