I wrote last week that I had just completed work on new credit card signups, applying for 6 new credit cards between my wife and I

Between my wife and I, we were instantly approved for our Bank of America Alaska cards as well as a new Barclay Arrival card. The other cards were marked as pending, suggesting that I call in to speak to an agent.
Experiences with Citi Prestige reconsideration
The new Citi Prestige card was one of the cards that was marked as pending. I got an email as follows:
The next day, when I got home from work, my wife said that they had called 3 times trying to speak to me. They called again that evening and I answered. But after 5-10 minutes on hold (before I even got to an agent), I just hung up.
The next day, I tried to call into the number listed above twice, but each time, after waiting on hold for 5-10 minutes, I’d get an automated message saying that no agents were available to talk to me and to please call back later

I hadn’t really gotten around to doing anything with that when I received a second email:
Ahhh yeah procrastination pays off again! I’ve actually written about this before – Why you should NOT call the reconsideration line – I find that in the majority of cases, it’s best to give it a week or two before calling in, because oftentimes it will just resolve itself anyways in the meantime!
This is the first time I’ve felt “brave” enough to apply for a card with a huge ($450) annual fee. It does have the annual airline fee credits ($250 in 2015 and $250 in 2016) that help offset this, as well as some other great perks, so I’m pleased to add this one to my

I also applied for the Prestige last week and was asked to call recon. This was part of an AoR with the Chase Hyatt and IHG. I have 2 Citi AAdvantage personal cards and a TY Premier.
The reason for recon: the rep asked if I would like to transfer some credit line (only $2,000 in my case) from one of my other Citi cards to the new Prestige. Seeing your credit line from Citi I bet that’s exactly what happened.
Anyway, congrats on the Prestige – it comes in a very nice package!
Yeah – it just came in the mail this morning and my wife brought it in and said “Were we expecting a package?”, expecting it to be a Christmas present or something. Nope, just the Citi Prestige in a giant package!! 🙂
I am wondering if I should try the same approach of not calling in as instructed by Chase. Today I was told to call in to provide info for Chase to decide on my British Airways application. I got instant approval for the other 3 cards I applied for today (Citi AA, Bank of America Alaska, and Barkley Hawaiian Air)
I am especially afraid of Chase interrogation about why I have applied for 3 or 4 new cards every 3 months. I did get a second email latter this evening in which Chase did not ask me to call in, but instead just stated that if approved I would receive my card in the mail and if denied I would get a letter stating the reasons within 30 days. Should I grit my teeth and call or wait and hope. I currently have Chase Sapphire, Ink, Freedom, IHG, and Hyatt. Once about 9 months ago this happened with a Chase application and after I didn’t call in they gave me the new card by closing an old Slate card I hadn’t used in years.
I would wait at least a week or two to see what shakes out, unless you have a pressing need to have the card before then. Let the system work itself out because you might get approved without having to call. You’ve got 30 days to still get the card based on your initial applicaiton
