As of January, Asia Miles will move to a new expiration policy. This is GREAT news for us award travelers!
Asia Miles are the award currency of Cathay Pacific and its subsidiary, Cathay Dragon. Both airlines are based out of Hong Kong and together operate an extensive network throughout Asia and the rest of the world. In fact, Cathay Pacific currently operates the longest nonstop flight out of my home airport: BOS-HKG nonstop! Points enthusiasts love Asia Miles for their great oneworld redemptions.

Up until now, Asia Miles expired every 36 months, regardless of activity. Points you earned in December of 2016 will expire this month, no matter how much you flew Cathay and accumulated more miles. Now Asia Miles is moving to a more traditional expiration policy. Asia Miles will now expire after 18 months of inactivity. That means you can keep your account active with the Cathay Pacific Credit Card from Synchrony, actual flights, and even award bookings! You’ll be able to extend the life of all your Asia miles indefinitely. Just make sure you do something every 18 months!
You can also transfer American Express Membership Rewards, Citi ThankYou Points, Capital One miles, and Marriott Bonvoy points to Asia Miles to keep your account topped off. I have yet to use Asia Miles, have you??
