(UPDATE 8/13 – Reposting as these offers are set to expire 8/15)
Most credit cards come with a fairly simple welcome spending offer. Spend some amount of dollars, and get a bonus welcome offer in either miles, points or cash. More recently we’ve started seeing companies making tiered or otherwise more complicated offers. Delta and American Express have just come out with new offers on the Delta Gold and Platinum cards (consumer and business versions)
New welcome offers on the Delta American Express cards
Here are the new offers for the Delta Gold and Platinum cards – both personal and business versions.
- American Express Delta Gold card – 30,000 Skymiles + 50% back on Delta purchases up to $300 – read more and learn how to apply here
- American Express Delta Gold business card – 30,000 Skymiles + 50% back on Delta purchases up to $300 – read more and learn how to apply here
- American Express Delta Platinum card – 50,000 Skymiles + 50% back on Delta purchases up to $500 – read more and learn how to apply here
- American Express Delta Platinum business card – 50,000 Skymiles + 50% back on Delta purchases up to $500 – read more and learn how to apply here
Who are these offers right for?
The welcome offers on the Delta Gold cards have gone as high as 70,000 miles, and the offers on the Platinum have gone as high as 80,000 miles. In a vacuum, I’d probably prefer these current offers IF you maximize the 50% back on Delta purchases. I’d rather have 50,000 Delta miles and $500 than 80,000 Delta Skymiles. But if you don’t have plans to spend $1,000 with Delta, then you might want to wait for the straight Skymiles offers.
So this offer is ideal for someone who is already flying Delta a lot, and has a significant amount of paid flights on Delta. Even better if you’re flying Delta on someone else’s dime!
Another thing to note is that the welcome offers on the Platinum cards do NOT come with the bonus MQMs that previous offers have had, though you do still have the option to get elite qualifying miles with spend.
Apply soon if you’re going to apply
While all offers are generally “limited time” only offers, these offers are especially limited time only. They are currently set to expire on August 15th, though of course
Again, here are the links to apply – each of these may pay me a commission if you’re approved. Don’t just sign up for a new card because some guy on the Internet said that you should, but if you do apply through my links, I appreciate the support
