There’s been a lot of Hilton news in the past couple of weeks. First they announced major changes to their loyalty program, followed by a new promotion that could net you a ton of points if you have a bunch of Hilton stays coming up in the next few months.

Hilton’s Newest Promotion is App-tastic
To continue their time in the limelight, Hilton rolled out a new promotion earlier this week. For every booking you make through their app, you’ll earn 500 bonus points.
Not only that, this is good for the entirety of 2017. That’s right–for the next 11 months, you’ll earn an extra 500 points for every booking made via app. You can register for the promotion here.
While that’s not a huge amount (by any stretch of the imagination), if you’re planning on making a booking, doesn’t it make sense to book through the app, since you’ll be getting even more points? I found making a reservation through the app to be pretty painless, so I’ll be going this route for future bookings this year.
Putting the pieces together
Let’s say you book 2 stays through the app, netting you a cool 1,000 points. Not a whole lot you can do with 1,000 points, right? WRONG. With Hilton’s revised Honors program, you will actually be able to use a mix of cash and points to book stays, and you need a minimum 1,000 points to do that. This might not save you a ton of money on a booking, but every bit helps, especially since these points were free to you!
Conclusion
500 points per booking isn’t going to set the world ablaze, but when you put this promotion in the context of their revised loyalty program, you might be able to get some value out of it. At the end of the day, this whole “game” is about making travel cheaper and freer, right? Take what you can, when you can, and maximize it!

Yeah, it would be great if it worked but the app doesn’t allow for the lowest prices to show. Believe me, I’ve tried to force it to accept my company’s corp code – easily bookable online and over the phone. Even the Hilton rep said I wasn’t the first person he’s heard that from.
