What did I say? It’s raining Amex Offers. This time you could be rewarded with additional Membership Rewards
What’s the deal
- Check your Amex Offers on your Amex card that earns Membership Rewards points (how to check offers – see below)
- Add offer to your card
- Spend a minimum of $5,500 in one or more eligible transactions (up to 3x)
- Per Amex, “these bonus points are in addition to any points you would normally receive for purchases on your Card under the terms of the Membership Rewards program.”
- Offer expires 11/20/2018
- For more details, please read the Offer Terms
The way I see this, if you use your Amex card and link this offer with that card, and you spend $5,500 on your purchases that typically earn 1x, you get your normal 5,500 MRs. Plus, with this offer, you should also get a bonus of 5,500 MRs. And this offer allows you take advantage of this bonus up to 3x.
How do you check for Amex Offers
You can check these from your desktop computer (scroll down under Recent Transactions and you’ll see Amex offers and benefits), or using your smartphone, once you’re in the Amex app, you’ll see Offers in the bottom of the screen.

Key things to know about Amex Offers
- Amex offers are targeted offers, if someone has an offer you didn’t get, you can’t call Amex to request the offer be added to yours
- If interested in using an offer, you have to click Add to Card
- Follow the instructions, restrictions do apply (expiration date, what you can or cannot buy, places where you can or cannot use the offer)
- Offers come in a form of credit or in some cases, additional Amex Membership Rewards Bonus (could be found on cards that offer MRs)
- Credits or bonuses don’t always post immediately, some could take weeks. Read the details of the offer.
Did you get this offer? Let me know if you will take advantage of this offer. Good luck

My husband got spend 2,000 get 2,000 bonus points up to 3X, I got spend 3,500 get 3,500 up to 3X. Now got to figure out how to spend 3,500 3X. 2,000 is not hard..
Wow and which Amex cards did these appear?
Mine is spend $9,000, get 4500, up to 3 times. I’ll probably do that once only.
Chris….which card is that?
Amex Premir Rewards Gold – 2000 offer, Platinum 3000 offer.
Do these stack? It says one or multiple transactions. If I have other Amex bonus transactions and they add to $5500+ will I receive those bonuses PLUS this 5500 bonus?
Diane, that’s a good question. I’m thinking that as long as you meet $5500 or more (along with all the other offers), sounds like it would work. What I’m not certain of though if they will calculate your spend minus your other credits. So let’s say you spent exactly $5500, and you took advantage of 3 other offers with a statement credit of $300 total (just an example)….I’m not sure if Amex will count that as meeting $5500, or that you’ve only met $5,200. I’d be careful with that and it might be worth checking directly with Amex.
Got it. I will work this and let you know the results! Thanks!
Sounds good. For me, I would plan on spending a bit more than $5500, it’s best to go a bit over the $5500, it is difficult to miss the promo by being short. 🙂
Nothing on my AmEx Platinum
I think I’d rather spend $5,500 on a new card, and get a 50k/60k/70k/whatever sign-up bonus 🙂
I see where you’re going with that. 🙂
