Last week, I wrote about the impending Marriott Megabonus 2016 promotion. It looks like Marriott is changing the way they run the Marriott Megabonus promotion, and doing something more similar to the recent promotions that IHG has been doing, where each member has a potentially different offer, depending on their recent stay history

Signing up for the Marriott Megabonus 2016 promotion
You can officially register for the Megabonus promotion at Marriott’s site.
It appears that most people have the promotion that I do (pictured above). After two stays, you earn a free night. The free night award earned with this Marriott Megabonus promotion 2016 is good at participating Marriott Rewards category 1-5 properties, and the free night award will expire six (6) months after the date of issuance.
Maximizing the Marriott Megabonus 2016 promotion
The relevant Flyertalk thread mentions that there are actually 3 different offers, detailed here:
A
Win #1: Earn a free night after two stays
Win #2: Unlock your new bonus points offer – and register when it appears in your online account
Win #3: Every stay counts at 4,000+ hotels worldwide
B
Win #1: Earn 10,000 bonus points after 15 paid nights plus 2,000 bonus points each additional night, up to 20,000 bonus points
Win #2: At the same time, earn a free night after two paid stays (register separately in your online account)
Win #3: Unlock a new bonus points offer in your online account after you win #1 and #2
C
Win #1: Earn 15,000 bonus points after 20 paid nights plus 3,000 bonus points each additional night, up to 30,000 bonus points
Win #2: At the same time, earn a free night after two paid stays (register separately in your online account)
Win #3: Unlock a new bonus points offer in your online account after you win #1 and #2
Personally I was only able to get the “A” offer, but frankly, none of those offers strike me as super appealing. Even the free night can only be used at a Category 1-5 hotel which isn’t very much. One of the differentiators of this Megabonus promotion is that you don’t know all of the different offers you might have until you complete the first one. Still, none of these offers are compelling enough to make me go out of my way to stay at any Marriotts.
What about you? If you’ve signed up for the Marriott Megabonus 2016 promotion, what offers did you get? Are you planning on participating?

I am a platinum rewards member and was given both offers A and B that you listed in the post. I agree that they are not very appealing especially with the number of hotels that they moved from a category 5 to a category 6. I wil most likely stay the two nights to get the one free and then focus on doubling my points with Hilton
I’m confused or I misunderstood the post. How do you maximize the bonus?
I got the 3rd offer. Unlocked the free night, but don’t get to see the 3rd bonus until I complete the first 20 nights (19 now).
have you unlocked the 3rd offer?
I am a platinum rewards member. I got offer C. Will easily achieve the 25 nights required to get all 30,000 bonus points, and I’m curious to find out what “Win #3: Unlock a new bonus points offer in your online account after you win #1 and #2” is all about. Hope it’s something worthwhile b/c 30,000 points for 25 nights isn’t a good offer.
Definitely let me know if you unlock it!
its 1000 points for up to 5 nights on top of everything else
I have achieved win number one and win number two, but don’t see the third offer. I just achieved the first two win’s however. Does the third offer take a bit of time to populate?
Dan – I’m actually not sure as I haven’t done it. You might try checking with Marriott or look on Flyertalk
I got offer ‘C’ and will probably only get to 22 or 23 nights. Regardless I don’t like this megabonus. As a platinum elite I’m all about points. The idea of cat 1-5 hotel bonus isn’t appealing at all and I’m sure that most platinums would agree. This means that I’m going to only get 21k or 24k points and hotel night I’m not likely to use. 21k points barely gets you a 1/2 night at a full service hotel. That’s a bonus not a megabonus . If anyone’s gets the “3rd” tier please let me know I’d love to hear what they gave out
After 2 nights – I got the cat 1-5 cert. It’s got a short shelf life though.
After 15 nights I got 15000 points.
After 5 (total 20) I got 3000 per night
Finally after 5 more (total 25 nights) I get 1000 per night.
Total 35000 and a cert.
