We are more than halfway through the second quarter of the year. If you happen to have a Chase Freedom or Discover cash back card, make sure to take advantage of the 5% cash back promo that’s available now through June 30, 2018. It’s not too late to get in on this offer.

Discover

Discover also gives us a view of what the next promotions look like for the next two quarters. In the third quarter, using your Discover card at restaurants gets you 5% cash back. In the last quarter of the year, perfect timing for all the holiday online shopping, you get 5% cash back when you shop at Amazon.com and Wholesale Clubs. Unlike Discover, Chase has not published their upcoming bonus promos for the third and fourth quarters. I expect to see that a few weeks before the next quarter.
I look forward to these promotions. In my family, we have quite a few Chase Freedom cards as a result of downgrading or product changing over the course of the years. We make sure to take advantage of these promotions every quarter. Especially for this current promotion, we made sure to use our cards whenever we buy groceries, or every opportunity where we could pay using PayPal or Chase Pay.
How about you? Which of the quarterly promotions have been easy for you to meet? Which ones do you look forward to?

Hi Jason,
Can I use my Freedom to buy Walmart GC online and pay with paypal so I can use the GC over time at my Samsclub? Thanks!
Hi Ben, I know that in the past months, Walmart and Chase have partnered where if you pay with Chase Pay, you get additional points. I, personally, have not paid Walmart via Paypal, but if that is an option that you see during check out, I imagine that it could work since it’s an actual Paypal transaction. Another option, instead of buying WM GCs, you might want to check with your local grocery store that sells VGCs, pay with your Freedom and get 5x. Just know that these VGCs have an additional fee. If you’re lucky, your local store might have a promo waiving these fees or providing additional discounts. Oh and the reason why I suggested the VGC, Sam’s Club and WM accept VGCs as well, so you have flexibility.
Thanks Jason for the super quick reply. Will let you know if I do give it a try. Busy long weekend. Have a great Memorial weekend!
Ok great…let me know how it goes. Find the best option that will work for you. Enjoy your holiday weekend.
My neighborhood Walmart refused to accept Chase Pay. Grrrr….
I’ve used Chase Pay via Walmart online. I don’t think it works in store.
