On our way from Cincinnati to Nauvoo, Illinois (on the west side of Illinois on the Mississippi River) we decided to break up our trip and stayed at the Residence Inn Peoria in Peoria, Illinois.  Here is my Residence Inn Peoria Illinois review

Residence Inn Peoria Illinois location

The Residence Inn by Marriott Peoria is located at 2000 West War Memorial Drive, Peoria, Illinois 61614.  It’s right off of I-74, but it’s located behind the Northwoods Mall, and even though the property abuts the highway, it takes about 5 minutes to wind your way there around and behind the mall

Residence Inn by Marriott Peoria Illinois price

The Marriott Residence Inn Peoria Illinois is a Category 3 Marriott hotel (up from Category 2 in 2017), which means that it costs 15,000 Marriott points / night to book.

Cash prices range about $140-$160 for the Studio or 1 Bedroom suites, and usually $200-$230 for the 2 Bedroom Suite.

You can click here to check current rates for your dates

Of course, if you’re booking on points you can only book into the 1 Bedroom Suite – though I’ve had good luck booking a 1 BR with points and then contacting the hotel to upgrade to the 2BR suite.  For our stay at the Residence Inn Peoria, they did upgrade us to the 2BR for free.

Marriott Residence Inn Peoria review – room

As I mentioned, we stayed in a 2 Bedroom Suite.  It has a large entry area with a full kitchen, table with 4 chairs and a sofa bed.

On either side of the entry area are the bedroom / bathroom combos.  In the 2 Bedroom Suites, each bedroom has a King bed and a bathroom area with sink and then toilet / shower combo

The 2 bedroom areas at the Residence Inn Peoria were identical

Maximum Occupancy “suggestion” on the 2 Bedroom suites is 8, so I didn’t have to even feel bad about putting the 8 of us there (I wouldn’t have felt bad anyways 😀 )

Marriott Residence Inn Peoria Illinois food

The Marriott Residence Inn Peoria offers complimentary breakfast every morning and they even set out a table for 8 for us 🙂

Breakfast was your typical fare with a few hot dishes, a waffle maker, and a variety of continental items and juice

Our family definitely prefers the mini waffle configuration over the giant waffle, just because it means that they are more likely to actually get eaten.  Though we definitely prefer the hotels with pancake makers even more

There is a variety of food for purchase in the “market” which of course we never buy as it’s a ripoff 🙂

Like most (all?) Residence Inns, the Residence Inn by Marriott Peoria is one of the hotels that offer free dinner, though they call it the “Residence Inn Mix”. We stayed on a Thursday night so we didn’t get a chance to check it out, but the menu is posted on the fridge

Residence Inn Peoria Illinois review – amenities

The Residence Inn Peoria Illinois has the typical hotel amenities, but also offers some of the amenities of an extended stay hotel.  There is plentiful outdoor seating (which they use for the dinners on Mon-Wed) and a basketball / sport court

The fitness center had 4 machines plus free weights

a group of treadmills in a room

The indoor swimming pool was located on the first floor next to the fitness center

There is also an outdoor grill which you can use

We had a great stay at the Residence Inn Peoria Marriott – as I mentioned earlier, it’s 15,000 Marriott points per night or you can check prices for your dates or read other reviews at TripAdvisor
