KEY LINK – Marriott Bonvoy Bold® Credit Card – Earn 30,000 Bonus Points after you spend $1,000 on purchases in the first 3 months from account opening. $0 annual fee.

I’ve often said that one of the best ways to get lots of miles and points is through applying for new credit cards. It’s just too hard to get any appreciable amount of miles by just your regular everyday spending (unless you are spending a LOT). So for most people, regularly applying for new credit cards every couple of months is the best way to get enough miles and points to go somewhere fun. Of course, that also goes right into the other thing that I regularly say, and that is to not apply for a credit card just because some guy on the Internet said that you should.

Marriott Bonvoy Bold Welcome Offer

The Marriott Bonvoy Bold® Credit Card just came out with a brand new offer and it’s pretty compelling. You can earn 30,000 Bonus Points after you spend $1,000 on purchases in the first 3 months from account opening. This is a pretty decent offer for a card with no annual fee.

Chase Marriott Bonvoy Bold Earning Rates

Keep in mind that with the Marriott Bonvoy Bold card, you’ll also get:

  • 3x Bonvoy points for every $1 spent at over 7,000 hotels participating in Marriott Bonvoy®
  • 2X Bonvoy points at grocery stores, rideshare, select food delivery, and select streaming, and internet, cable and phone services
  • 1X Bonvoy points on all other purchases.
  • Complimentary Marriott Silver elite status
  • 5 elite nights towards status each year

The Bonvoy Bold card has a $0 annual fee

Marriott Bonvoy Bold Benefits

Like many cards with no annual fee, the Chase Marriott Bonvoy Bold® card does not come with a ton of benefits other than its welcome offer. The earning rates are not great, even for stays at Marriott hotels, and there aren’t a ton of travel or other ancillary benefits. You do get complimentary Marriott Bonvoy Silver Elite status, along with 5 elite night credits each year that you hold the card. Silver Elite status is the lowest tier of Bonvoy status, so you won’t get much with that other than late checkout (sometimes) and 10% extra points on your Marriott stays.

Who’s Eligible for this Marriott Bonvoy Bold offer

The terms of the Marriott Bonvoy Bold® Credit Card offer state that you are not eligible for the welcome offer if you:

As a Chase card, the Marriott Bonvoy Bold offer is subject to Chase 5/24 so you are unlikely to be approved if you have applied for 5 or more credit cards within the past 24 months.

Other Marriott Credit Cards

If you’re looking for a Marriott card with a bit more oomph, there are a few other Marriott cards that you could consider

Personally, I think that most people will get much more value out of the 3 free nights with the Marriott Bonvoy Boundless, at least during the first year. You can then downgrade to the Bonvoy Bold after the first year if you don’t want to pay the annual fee again.

One thing to consider with this offer is that you are getting Marriott Bonvoy points, so you are locked into using them to stay at Marriott hotels. If you are looking for other hotel credit cards with no annual fee, you could consider the IHG One Rewards Traveler Credit Card – read our full review here, or the Hilton Honors American Express Card – see rates and fees or read our full review here.
