A few months ago, I wrote about an opportunity to get a 50% bonus on transferring Starwood SPG Points to American Airlines. Â Normally if you transfer 20,000 SPG points to an airline, you are given a 25% bonus, so 20,000 SPG points turns into 25,000 airline miles. Â Starwood is not only a hotel chain but also offers 1:1 transfers to many airlines such as American, Delta, and many more.
(SEE ALSO:Â Starwood Preferred Guest program)
For the duration of this promotion, American Airlines is giving an ADDITIONAL 5,000 miles for each 20,000 SPG points transferred, so 20,000 SPG points becomes 30,000 American AAdvantage airline miles (a 50% bonus)
SPG Bonus mile promotion ending soon
If you were on the fence about this promotion, or filed it away in the “Yeah I should do that” bucket, I am here to tell you that this promotion ENDS FRIDAY AUGUST 7TH AT 11:59 PM CENTRAL TIME.
If you’re following along, that’s this week! Â So if you want to get an extra bonus on your Starwood to American Airlines transfer, act before Friday night.
You can read the full details of the promotion at the official promotion page.

I hate deceiving posts like these. Click bait.
Not sure what part was deceiving? There IS a 50% airline mile transfer bonus, it IS for a limited time, and it DOES end this week!
Cuz the real bonus is not 50% when 25% of it is the typical bonus. That’s the same as the Martinis blog that posts 50% off xyz and when you click you realize its limited to $10 like pay $10 for some groupon and get extra $5. Very deceiving.
Waiting for the day we can do the transfer going the other way!
That would be pretty slick, considering how easy it is to get AA miles. One credit card signup = 50,000 AA miles at 50% bonus is 75,000 SPG points = 37 nights at a Cat 1 hotel!!!!! I guess I see why you can’t do this the other way 😀
Any idea how long the transfer takes to American?
Al, don’t be so gruff and objectionable. Pointswithacrew does a great job, for free, and even if you could have said “Get an additional 20% bonus, i.e. 5,000 on 25,000” the fact is that if I transfer 20,000 Starwood points to AA miles by midnight Friday, I will come out with 30,000 which is a 50% bonus. What bait is involved here? If you find the blog so deceiving, unsubscribe.
Well said Gabbi. It’s all good help from site esp if you are busy person etc.
the title says “Limited time 50% airline mile transfer bonus ends THIS WEEK!”
1) it’s like going into a store that says up to 90% off only to find 1 item
2) “limited time” is implied implied when you write “ends this week”
3) no mention of what loyalty program transfer from
4) no mention of what airline program transfer to
call it as it is “Extra 25% SPG-AA Transfer bonus ends THIS WEEK!”
clearly clickbait…
