There is the Duchamp getaway carry-on backpack that is quite impressive in how it works and is organized. Not sure how well it will hold up over extended use, but it is well organized and has a lot of capacity and is available already on the cheap at even discount retailers like Nordstrom Rack and TJ Maxx.

Late last year I picked up two for under $100. And the one I have been using has held up perfectly well on over 25k miles of travel so far this year. And I am both electronics heavy and clothes heavy when it comes to my cabin baggage. And for airlines that can be more picky about cabin baggage weight and size, my use of this travel backpack has probably made the difference on whether or not getting sidelined in a way over cabin baggage.
