Today I wanted to talk a bit about the Langly Field Jacket – which bills itself as THE BEST WEATHERPROOF JACKET FOR TRAVEL OR PHOTOGRAPHY (yes, in all caps)
Langly Field Jacket features
The Langly Field Jacket bills itself as made by and for photographers and avid travelers and features a form fitting style. It’s a 3 layer weatherproof jacket with protection from rain, wind and snow
Here are a few pics of the jacket
It’s completely seam sealed and has snap-flap pockets and an underarm vent for warmer weather

Here’s a video showing off several of the Langly travel and photography jacket features
Langly Field Jacket backing levels and cost
The Langly Field Jacket is not yet fully funded (~$16,000 out of the $50,000 goal), and will only go forward if it’s fully funded by the end of the project date (July 14th). Here are a few of the levels that you can back the project at (all prices in USD)
- $10 for a Langly Watch Cap
- $289 for one Langly Field Jacket for Travel (Super Early Bird)
- $325 for one Langly Field Jacket for Photographers (Super Early Bird). This additionally contains a few extra accessories good for photographers who are trying
The future retail price of the jacket is $435 so you’re saving a decent chunk off of MSRP
Again, here is the link to back the Langly Field photography or travel jacket kickstarter – you have until July 14th to back it

I don’t know. $400 for a jacket that is basically like a decent LL Bean or Patagonia with designed pockets. Seems a bit steep for a general traveler. As far as a photographer rain/snow jacket it would be OK but I’d expect an extra front hood that could be extended over your gear when taking photos in the rain.
