IHG has been a great hotel chain for my wife and I! We were able to take advantage of the old IHG Premier Rewards Card for our week long trip to Amsterdam. And I recently was able to score the new IHG Premier Rewards Card. This gave me automatic IHG Platinum Elite status!

However, if you are looking to gain status with IHG that includes the fancy Intercontinental Hotel, the swanky Kimpton, and the very consistent Holiday Inn, you may be in luck! Right now, IHG Spire status is up for you to try out for 90 days!
IHG Spire Status
Via PointsNerd, it appears that IHG is offering new registrants a 90 day trial of the IHG Spire status. All you have to do is stay 5 nights in 90 days to maintain Platinum Elite for a year. If you are able to stay 10 nights in 90 days, you get IHG Spire for a whole year!
All of the awesome perks of the various IHG statuses can be found here. It is absolutely a great bang for your buck to be an IHG Rewards member.
While Spire status does not come with guaranteed breakfast or guaranteed room benefits, there are some interesting features. My personal favorite is the Guaranteed Room Availability. My wife and I love booking travel last minute. Knowing they will do everything they can to get us a room is comforting!
IHG Spire Final Thoughts
I personally am a big fan of IHG because of the wide portfolio of properties they have. They span nearly the entire globe. While I have never had the IHG Spire status, I’ve maintained IHG Platinum Elite for almost 2 years now. It is pretty great! I love being treated for my loyalty as a credit card holder.
If you want to give this promotion a try, the link is here. You must register by October 31st, so don’t wait! Also, it has been reported that this may be a targeted promotion, so your mileage may vary.

Wow… yeah Spire looks freaking awesome! lol
Guaranteed room availability at rack rates sounds great! Every program offers top tier than benefit. Nothing special.
You mentioned that Spire does not come with “guaranteed” breakfast. This implies that there might some some or most properties that do provide it and some that don’t. Are there at least some that offer complimentary breakfast to Spire members or is this benefit just out of the question?
This seems to be one of the cases where some hotels don’t have the resources to offer the free breakfast. I would call ahead in this case to confirm.
To qualify do the stays need to be payed or points ?
If I stay 10 nights with points, does that qualify me Spire?
No – I’m pretty sure they have to be paid / qualifying stays
