IHG recently announced a promotion where you can get 15% off all award stays.  This can be a great opportunity to book award stays using IHG points, or even rebook existing stays for fewer points possibly. Now, since IHG doesn’t have an award chart at all to tell you how much these hotels “should” cost, giving 15% off is potentially not very useful, but it’s still worth checking out to see if the promotion makes sense for you.

The promotion email I got said I could “enjoy a 15% discount on Reward Nights”. I believe it was originally for IHG credit card holders but has since been opened up to IHG Platinum and Diamond status holders.

It’s only good for stays of 3 nights or fewer and as such does not stack with the 4th night free benefit that comes with IHG’s credit cards. You have to book by February 12th and stay by April 6th.

IHG 15% Off Award Stays Deal

The details of the promotion are as follows:

  • This discount offer (“Offer”) is available to those IHG One Rewards members who have a Chase IHG One Rewards Credit Card credit card and who have been granted access to the discount.
  • The Offer is available when booking a Reward Night at a participating hotel through an official IHG online reservations site while the member is signed into their IHG One Rewards account.
  • The Offer is for a 15% Reward Night discount off of the number of points needed to book a stay using points only.
  • This Offer does not include a discount for stays using Points & Cash. To qualify for this Offer, Reward Nights must be booked from 7 February 2025 to 12 February 2025 (the “Booking Window”) for stays through 6 April 2025.
  • The offer is based on the time zone of the participating hotels at time of booking.
  • Please note that the Booking Windows will vary slightly, due to time zones, depending on where you are located and where the desired properties are located. You should keep in mind the time zones that apply to your desired participating hotel when making your bookings to ensure you fall within the Booking Window for your desired property. The Offer is not available to use along with the “Fourth Reward Night Free” cardmember benefit when booking a stay of four (4) or more consecutive Reward Nights. The Offer will be applied for eligible cardmembers booking three (3) or fewer consecutive Reward Nights. This Offer is not from Chase. Chase is not responsible for the provision of, or failure to provide, the stated benefits and services.

Great For Free Night Certificates And Rebooking

This award sale can be great for people using one of the free night certificates that come with the various IHG credit cards. Those certificates are good for 40,000 points per night, so this can mean the difference between being able to use one of your certificates directly vs. having to top it off with extra points.

Remember too that most points reservations are cancellable without any penalty, so if you already have a points reservation booked for the time period above, you can check and see if it would make sense to cancel and rebook (if it’s at a lower rate than when you originally booked it)

The Bottom Line

IHG is out with a promotion where you can get 15% off select award bookings. This is a limited time offer that is only good if you book by February 12th (Wednesday), so you’ll want to act now if you’re planning on taking advantage. If you have any existing award bookings during the promotional time period, you’ll also want to check on those and possibly rebook them.

Good luck and happy travels!
