IHG has a history of giving out some pretty good quarterly promotions, and they are back with the IHG Accelerate Fall 2016 promotion. For awhile, they were changing the name of the promotion every quarter but recently they seem to be sticking with “Accelerate”

I was not eligible for the IHG Accelerate Summer promotion, as it was targeted to residents of other countries, but I’m back in business for the IHG Accelerate Q1 2017 promotion
Accessing the IHG Accelerate Q1 2017 promotion
You can access the IHG Accelerate Q1 2017 promotion at IHG’s website. After you sign in, and accept the terms, you should see your dashboard, which will be personalized with your own offers. Depending on your stay profile, you’ll have different tasks. Typically, the more you have stayed previously with IHG, the harder your tasks will be to complete
All stays have to occur between January 1st and April 15th. IHG Award stays and Cash and Points bookings typically do NOT count.

I’d have to stay 5 times to get any appreciable bonus points, so that’s probably not one that is going to fit with my current stay patterns

This one is much better – with 2 stays at (different) Holiday Inn Express hotels, paid for with the IHG credit card and with 1 bonus points package (typically an extra $15-$25 for 5000 bonus points) would net an additional 30,000 bonus points. The 5000 bonus points from the bonus points package and 1,000 if one of those stays is in January would be extra. The good part about this offer is that because the “Achievement bonus” only requires completing 4 of the 5 tasks, we can skip the “Stay 5 nights” one.
Since Holiday Inn Express is one of my favorite hotel chains anyways (not Holiday Inn!), this may be something that we look at.

So one night in January + buying 1k points = 31k bonus (I’d skip the 5 night offer). Bet I can do it for less than $100. Win.
You should note that your offer is not “stay 5 times” as you have written, but “stay 5 nights”, so you could complete yours with a single 5 night stay. My wife and I both received exactly the same offer as you did, which, with our family of 6, would probably work out if we had a stay of 5 nights that we needed to pay for anyway, as we could earn them both at the same time. Alas, we have no such plan, and haven’t paid cash for 5 nights in the last 4 years since we started collecting points and miles.
Good point – I kind of glossed over it since as you said, I don’t plan on paying cash for a 5 night stay
Ian is skipping the 5x or 5 nights … he only has to complete 3 of 4 offers on that prior “accelerate offer” … so, it doesn’t matter if it says stay 5 times or 5 nights … he is going to or stayed 1 night in January.
Not going to be able to get the achievement bonus, as I sincerely doubt we’ll have 5 paid nights in Q1.

This promotion is going to run concurrently with ihg Mastercards priceless promotion that runs from December 1 to February 15 . They have done this before in the past and it takes a CPA to keep track of your point accumulation from two sources because of the delay in posting those points.
