IHG has a history of giving out some pretty good quarterly promotions, and they are back with the IHG Accelerate Fall 2017 promotion. For awhile, they were changing the name of the promotion every quarter but recently they seem to be sticking with “Accelerate”
- IHG Accelerate Spring 2016 promotion
- IHG Accelerate Summer 2016 promotion
- IHG Accelerate Fall 2016 promotion
- IHG Accelerate Spring 2017 promotion
- IHG Accelerate Q2 2017 promotion
Then there was the IHG Accelerate promotion from Q4 of 2015, which was the last one that I personally participated in
- Here’s my IHG Accelerate promotion offers – what’s yours?
- Rethinking my IHG Accelerate promotion offers
- My last IHG Accelerate promotion stay – what would you do?
- Trouble with IHG Accelerate stays not showing up?
- My IHG Accelerate points have posted – have yours?
I was not eligible for the IHG Accelerate Summer promotion, as it was targeted to residents of other countries, but I’m back in business for the IHG Accelerate Q3 2017 promotion
Accessing the IHG Accelerate Q3 2017 promotion
You can access the IHG Accelerate Q3 2017 promotion at IHG’s website. After you sign in, and accept the terms, you should see your dashboard, which will be personalized with your own offers. Depending on your stay profile, you’ll have different tasks. Typically, the more you have stayed previously with IHG, the harder your tasks will be to complete
All stays have to occur between September 1st and December 31st (both dates inclusive). IHG Award stays and Cash and Points bookings typically do NOT count.
IHG Accelerate Q3 2017 Dan
Here is my promotion – I think I have no recent paid stays at any IHG brand – my most recent stay was in March at the Staybridge Suites San Francisco Airport, where I used my free night and paid $30 to get upgraded to a 2BR Suite
(SEE ALSO: Where I “wasted” my 2 IHG Free night certificates)
I can get 6,500 bonus points with one stay in September, but I’m not sure it’s worth it for 4 more nights to get the remaining bonus nights. If I had upcoming stays where I needed a hotel that would be one thing but I don’t think mattress running this makes sense. If I needed more IHG points (which I don’t), I could buy 35,000 points whenever I wanted for 0.7 cents a point or cheaper! ($245) which would likely be cheaper than 4 mattress runs.
IHG Accelerate Q3 2017 Carolyn
My wife has…. the exact same offer 🙁 She has no recent stays on her account but does have an upcoming Point Breaks stay coming up at an exciting Holiday Inn Express!
I might try signing up one of my kids for an account to see what kind of offer they get but other than that it looks like we’ll be sitting this one out

Hi Dan,
I think I remember you discussing in the past how to use the Free Night Certificates for a family – reserving the free room (typically meant for 2 people) and then paying an upgrade fee to the hotel to accommodate the kids in the same room. We’re headed to Paris with the kids in October. There are plenty of IHG Free Night rooms available, but none of them will accept two adults and two kids. Any advice? Thanks 🙂 Tim
Tim – you can read about what I did at the Staybridge Suites SFO Airport. I emailed the hotel directly and asked if there was a way that you could pay a cash copay to guarantee an upgrade to a larger room. You could try saying you’re a Platinum member, or compare the cash cost between the room you’ll get with the free night (or points) and the room you want. Try a few hotels – I’ve had mixed luck but mostly positive
Mine is significantly more difficult and expensive than yours. Congrats and take advantage. I will be passing the next quarter.
Hi Guys,
I had a similar situation with 5 ppl and room max. occupancy 4, I contacted the hotel assistant manager at Intercontinental via email and asked them if we could stay in the same room with a roller bed and they happily agreed if it wasn’t a problem for us. We are fine with the current room size. For the larger room, I was told it would be based on availability that night no costs were discussed. Booked this reservation yesterday for stay end of August. For 4, If you are good with the room they would accommodate.
I registered for the Sept 1-Dec 31, 2017 Accerlate program. However, before I found that the program existed, I already made about 15 days of reservations using the Senior Discount Rate Type. To ensure I get the Accelerate points, do I need to book these reservations again? If so, what rate type do I use? Thanks
I don’t believe you need to re-register assuming your Accelerate offers don’t require a specific rate type, but you might try checking with IHG to make sure.
I’ve hit my past 3 accelerate achievement bonuses but usually at the end of the program and the dashboard is gone the day after the end date.. And all 3 times I had to request the points and then I get an e-mail saying “You’re correct…..” and I get the bonus points. It’s getting old.
