IHG is back with their IHG Accelerate 2016 spring promotion. Similar to many of their recent promotions, the IHG Accelerate 2016 spring promotion consists of a series of personalized offers, where you have to complete some number of tasks. Each task will earn you a certain amount of points, and typically if you complete all (or most) of your tasks, you’ll get a bonus. Dan’s IHG Accelerate 2016 Spring offer
Here’s my offer – I have 2 stays this past quarter at IHG (both Holiday Inns)
I can get 3 of my offers (January Bonus, Stay once get 5,000 and Spend on my IHG credit card) with just one stay. I originally thought those 3 offers would complete my Achievement bonus, but I believe when they say 3 of the 3 offers they mean not including the January Bonus Offer (it does say that, but IHG has definitely had issues with bonus offer description counting before!)
So one stay, budgeting say $100 would get me ~14,000 points, for an average of about 0.7 cents per point. This is about the price you can typically buy IHG points, so not super enticing.
I’d then need to stay 4 more nights to get another ~50,000 points. If I used my 4th night free hotel benefit from the Citi Prestige card, I could get the 4 nights for about $300, which would be about 0.6 cents per point. Again, not super enticing.

My wife has a very similar offer, except she has a Bonus Point promotion instead of the IHG credit card offer.
Again, I will probably pass on both of these offers unless I end up needing some paid stays for work or other.

1) I believe that a P+C booking would count – you might check the terms on your Accelerate promo.

Man that’s a good one – I wish I had gotten that one. How many stays have you recently had with IHG?
I had 5 paid stays(1 Holiday Inn and 4 HI Express) this year all from this summer and then 4 award stays this year. I have been an IHG member for about 2 years. One IHG promo I got an awful offer with at least 12 stays! I’m very happy with just 2 nights/stays this time! My winter offer could have been completed with three nights at two Holiday Inns, but I did not have a use for the rooms this term. The Holiday Inn Express works best for my family- free breakfast!
I must have won the IHG lottery this time! I just had my husband check his account- 45,000 points with one stay(I think)! Can he can pay for points and cash with the IHG card to get two of the offers? Good thing I made him sign up for his own account when he had to go to a work conference. He had 11 paid stays this spring and summer. His offer this current (Sept-Dec) promo would have taken 5 nights.

I am pretty sure that the points and cash one and the pay with your IHG card one would be mutually exclusive because points and cash with IHG is really just buying points and staying on an award stay.

It doesn’t look terrible. Two stays at HIX (which I normally pick anyway), five nights total, one of which is a Friday/Saturday or Saturday/Sunday and either Friday, Saturday, or Sunday. The points and cash is more difficult because I usually stay on a government or AAA rate and never at the “best available” rate. When you subtract “Points and Cash” it’s 59,700 points assuming I do one of them in January. Although not worth mattress running for, given a 0.5 cent valuation, it’s almost $300. The question is whether I’ll be going on any weekend trips in the winter.

I have a similar offer, but spending $100 or so to get 11,500 points doesn’t seem like a very good deal – you can get points cheaper. Of course if you have a planned paid stay that’s different – in that case then yes, 1 stay seems called for.
I can work it as be a reimbursed business stay – not a mattress run. First I’ll exhaust the 3K AAdvantage miles Wyndham promotion.
What is a “bonus points package”. That’s in Carolyn’s offer and my wife’s as well. Have no idea what you have to do to earn that. The Book Now button just takes me to a typicaly reservation page. When I look at the terms it seems it has something to do with transferring miles to another program? Confused.
Kent C – You pay a higher rate and get additional bonus points. It’s like $10 more than the flexible rate to get extra 2,000 points. The premium is more if you’d usually go for a discount rate (AAA, AARP or whatever).
The bonus is per stay, so definitely don’t book a multiple night stay at that rate,
