This happened a few months ago but I just recently saw the article. It was from a reception in the presidential suite of the at the Hyatt Regency Denver at the Colorado Convention Center for colleagues, close friends and family of Dr. Celeste Malone, head of the National Association of School Psychologists. It’s not clear to me if the picture above is of the reception in the presidential suite or not. If so, that does seem like a lot of people in one hotel suite, but I also tend to agree with Dr. Malone that this would likely have been handled differently if it had been a group of white people. Again according to Dr. Malone, there was no music playing, they received no warnings about noise and quiet hours at the hotel didn’t start for 30 minutes. On the other hand, I know that people tend to underestimate the amount of noise that they produce.
This happened in February so I am trying to see if I can track down if anything happened. All I’ve seen so far is an apology letter posted by the Hyatt Regency on their Facebook page.

That’s way too many people to be in a suite and it’s obvious that’s why it was shut down.
Privileged people would not be subject to that
I wish there was more information in this article. Without all of the information it’s hard to say if race came into play. The pictures are blurry and the video won’t play. That being said, you would think that has the hotel received complaints in the Presidential Suite, they would have given several warnings prior to kicking everyone out. And I have no doubt that the hotel knew that the occupant was a Doctor, so that I am sure would have come into play, no matter what race. A doctor is a doctor. just wish there was more information.
Too cheap to rent a reception room? Don’t claim that if they were white this wouldn’t have happened. First, you don’t know what would have happened. And, second, how do you know it doesn’t happen to white people? Those stories just don’t get put in the news.
They were carrying on. They got shut down. That would happen to anyone who does this.
