Okay so there is a confluence of several different promotions at Club Carlson hotels going on right now that can lead to some huge amounts of Club Carlson points.

First: Club Carlson Triple Points

Triple Points gives you (wait for it… wait for it…) triple points on any stays between now and June 28, 2015, but you do have to register for the promotion before your stay.

You’ll also get 1000 extra points for booking through the mobile app.

Second: 30,000 points for your first stay

As part of the fallout from the shenanigans from Club Carlson yanking away the Bonus Award night perk of their credit card, they sent out an email to cardholders, offering 30,000 points on their next stay.  I did not personally get that email, but Club Carlson did clarify that the offer was for all cardholders.

Third: All the points you get already

You normally get 20x points on Club Carlson stays, and you get 10x points for paying with the Club Carlson credit card, and Gold elite members (which you are if you’re a Club Carlson cardholder) get a 35% bonus on points.

So, let’s put it all together

Putting it all together for a sample booking of a hotel (somewhat) near my house.

  • 20x miles for a regular booking – 1611 points
  • 40x from the Triple Points promotion – 3222 points
  • 10x miles for paying with the Club Carlson card – 805 points
  • 35% elite bonus – 563 points
  • 1000 bonus points for booking through the app
  • 30,000 points from the Bonus Award fiasco

So, that’s a total of 37,201 points, or 461 points / dollar spent.  At that value, it may make sense to book a mattress run.

Remember that bookings made by May 28th are still eligible for the Bonus Award night, so you still have a bit of time to collect points and book them and get double the value.
