In 2024, I was attending a conference in San Antonio. After looking at a few hotel options, I decided to book the Holiday Inn Express San Antonio N-Riverwalk Area. This Holiday Inn Express San Antonio N-Riverwalk Area review will give an idea of the different amenities and features of the hotel and hopefully help you decide if you want to stay here if you’re looking for a San Antonio Texas hotel.

Holiday Inn Express San Antonio N-Riverwalk Area location

The Holiday Inn Express San Antonio N-Riverwalk Area is located at 120 Camaron Street San Antonio, Texas 78205. This is 3 blocks from the Riverwalk, though it’s about a mile down to the “main” part of the Riverwalk.

The Holiday Inn Express San Antonio Riverwalk is located in the remodeled 1878 Bexar County Jail building, which I thought was an interesting tidbit, since I tend to think of most Holiday Inn Express hotels / buildings as quite cookie-cutter.

Holiday Inn Express & Suites San Antonio cost

We booked a room with points, for 51,000 points for 4 nights, using the fourth night free benefit that comes with the IHG One Rewards Premier Credit Card. I also bought IHG points when they were having a 100% bonus on purchasing points, meaning I paid a total of $255 for a 4 night stay. The cash cost for the official conference hotel was around $1,000 for the 4 nights, which is how buying points saved me nearly 80% on this hotel stay.

Holiday Inn Express San Antonio N-Riverwalk Area review – room

We had reserved a 1 King Bed room, but I think I had a slight upgrade to a corner “suite”. The extra room was not super helpful in this case, since I was staying on my own, but it was nice.

On the other side of the “suite” was a couch with a desk and the TV

There was also a small bathroom.

Holiday Inn Express & Suites San Antonio wifi and amenities

Wifi is complimentary in the lobby and in the guest rooms for IHG members. The Holiday Inn Express & Suites San Antonio Riverwalk wifi speed was decent and I had no issues using it, though I did not manage to take a screenshot of the speed.

There is a very small Holiday Inn Express San Antonio outdoor pool, off to the side of the building.

There isn’t a separate business center, however there is a small computer and printer area next to the front desk that is available for guests, if you need to print a boarding pass, directions or anything.

Holiday Inn Express & Suites San Antonio Riverwalk hotel review – parking

The Holiday Inn Express & Suites San Antonio Riverwalk parking is $10 / night, charged to your room. There are limited parking spaces available. I did not have a car during my stay so I did not use the parking.

Holiday Inn Express & Suites San Antonio Riverwalk food

The Holiday Inn Express and Suites – Riverwalk San Antonio is similar to that of many other Holiday Inn Express hotels in the United States. There was a decent sized breakfast area near the hotel lobby

There were eggs, breakfast potatoes, sausage and bacon and biscuits on the day that I was there, though I imagine it is switched up each day

a buffet line of food

And of course, the famous (at least in our family!) Holiday Inn Express cinnamon rolls!

There is a small market near the lobby, where you can buy various snacks, meals and drinks at outrageous prices.

The Bottom Line – Holiday Inn Express & Suites San Antonio – Riverwalk North hotel review

Overall this was a decent stay if you are looking for a cheap San Antonio hotel. It was a bit further away from the main Riverwalk / convention center / tourist area, but an easy walk. The price was much cheaper than hotels that are closer to the action, and I thought my stay was good. The fact that it’s in a historic building is an added plus. The Holiday Inn Express & Suites San Antonio – Riverwalk North can definitely be a great option if you’re looking for a cheap San Antonio hotel.
