The welcome offers on different credit cards tend to vary over time, going up and down. Because it can be difficult to get a signup bonus on any given credit card more than once, it makes sense to try and sign up for a card when its bonus is at a relatively high value. The bonus on the Chase Sapphire Preferred card was up to 100,000 Ultimate Rewards points a few weeks ago, but the public offer has dropped down to 60,000 points.

But you can still get 80,000 points by using a Chase refer a friend link. And if you are referring a spouse, friend or family member, you’ll get an additional 15,000 points for the referral. That combined bonus of 95,000 points is nearly as high as the 100,000 point offer from a few weeks ago
