Here’s a brief notice to let you know about a deal that Staples is running this week

staplesvisacardI believe that the maximum denomination of cards that Staples sells is $200 so you’ll need to buy 2 cards.  $100 cards come with a $5.95 activation fee and $200 cards come with a $6.95 fee.  My plan would be to buy 2 $200 cards, which should cost me $413.90.  I’ll get a $20 Visa card in the mail in addition to the $400 in Visa cards, so it will be a (slight) moneymaker.

Because Carolyn has the Chase Ink card (got it in our last churn!), it earns 5x at office supply cards.  So in addition to the $6.10 of profit, we will get nearly 2100 Chase Ultimate Rewards points.  That’s halfway to a one way flight from here to New York!  All for about 5 minutes of time.

I found about this deal thanks to being on Frequent Miler‘s Quick Deals list – it’s one of the few email subscriptions that I sign up for – he always seems to be on the cutting edge for finding great manufactured spending opportunities.

Last time there was a similar deal, it was at OfficeMax, and there was no limit, which meant that they sold out pretty quickly.  This time there is a limit of 1 per household (the $20 card comes via easy rebate), so I’d guess it will last longer.

Are you going to grab this deal?
