There’s a Back to School Promotion with using United MPX App. To those not familiar with using the MPX app is a great way of earning points with your credit card/s that you use with your purchase, along with earning United miles.
How to get started using MileagePlus X
- Download the United MileagePlus X app to your smartphone
- Sign in to your United account
- Add credit card/s that you will be using to make your future purchases
- Search for a merchant and purchase electronic gift cards (in-store or online purchases)
- Earn United Miles plus additional points from the credit card that you used
For this current promotion, click Catalog from the Main Menu and click on Back to School Promotion. If you want to search all the other merchants, just click on ALL, and it will display the merchants for you alphabetically.

These are the current Back to School Promotion that could earn you up to 10 miles/dollar. What’s shown below, Office Depot and Office Max purchases could get you 4 miles per dollar.

What was the latest on how these purchases code? When the Amex travel coding was lost, I stopped using MPX, but I presume it still is good somewhere.
I used it the other day when I bought a gc and paid my tab at The Cheesecake Factory. It coded as dining, therefore, I earned 3x with my CSR.

Ok great…..just use it whenever there’s an opportunity and you’d be surprised that your United Miles will grow.
Use this app a lot. It’s really useful to buy an e-gift card to pay bills at participating restaurants. You can triple dip if you have the Chase United card too. For online shopping you can triple or quadruple dip if the store has a loyalty program too – e.g. Best Buy.
Excellent point on the triple dip. I do have a United card and get a 25% bonus when I use this app. Do you also get 25%?
