Last month I received the email below from Capital One with an invite to refer friends to the Capital One Venture. Apparently, other Capital One cardholders were being targeted with offers as well. I have the Venture card and it is one of my preferred travel cards. I have recommended this card to multiple people and it will be nice to get a bonus for it in the future!
What If I Didn’t Receive an Email?
Most cardholders who are eligible for this offer should have received an email with the Refer a Friend link. You can also check the Capital One website after logging in to see if you have a Refer a Friend offer. The referral link is now showing on my wife’s Capital One login as well even though she never received the email. The following screenshots illustrate the process to complete a referral through the website.
What Does Your Friend Get?
If you have the option to refer, the current offer for your friend is to earn 50,000 bonus miles after a minimum spend requirement of $3,000 within the 1st three months. The bonus miles are worth $500 to offset travel purchases or can be transferred to a number of airline partners. Your friend will also be eligible for all the other card-member benefits.
How Do I Make Sure We Both Get the Bonus?
It’s pretty simple. Have your friends and family apply using the link that you sent. Once they’re approved and meet the minimum spend requirement they will receive the bonus miles. You will get the $100 referral bonus within a few days of them being approved. The credit will show up right on your online statement.
Terms and Conditions
You need to be aware of the terms and conditions of the offer as outlined below. It also helps to know these 4 things before applying for a Capital One card.
Conclusion
If you’ve been meaning to refer your friends and family to a Capital One card, check your email or follow the process above to see if you are eligible for the referral offer. You could earn $100 for every referral up to $500 in a calendar year. Remember to have your friend double check the bonus offered to them before applying.

I called Capital One on July 7th, 2020 to ask if I could become eligible for their Refer a Friend program. Eventually, they said this program has been cancelled despite still being on their website.
That’s sad to hear. I know that referrals pulled back on some Chase cards as well.
It is currently, open. I just referred a friend and I see a -100 on my account from the referral program.
