UPDATE: This deal has died the glorious death that all deals like this eventually die. Check out – 4 reasons why you’ll miss out on the next mistake fare or 5 steps to get you ready for the next mistake fare sale!
Via Dans Deals there are some amazing fares from Sydney, Australia (Brisbane and Melbourne also seem to work on some dates) to Los Angeles. The only trick is that to get the best deal, you have to originate in Sydney
I found it bookable on Orbitz. Personally when I went to Orbitz.com directly, I was not able to get it to work, but only when I used the link in Dan’s post (which, I assume, pays him some sort of commission)
At the time of this writing, it was available on most dates through September 2016, but I’d imagine most dates will sell out quickly. Book now, think later – flights on Orbitz are cancelable without charge through 11pm tomorrow
Select SYD-LAX and to make things easier on yourself, filter the search to only be on Virgin Australia. You’ll see something like this
But… when you click through, you’ll get something like this!
Sweet! You can do the same thing for flights originating in LAX, but the lowest I saw was $443. Still, a $600 r/t to Australia is pretty good! You could also use miles and points to book the outbound leg to Australia. You’ll also need to get to Los Angeles on your own, as if you added any connecting cities that made the fare go up
Good luck and happy booking!

Why is everyone giving HT to Dan!?!??
Don’t HT Dan!
Dan is the parasitic bottom-feeder of the blogging world.
Dan regularly steals and hijacks other bloggers’ content and pawns it off as his own inserting his own referral and merchant links.

I appreciate the karma in trying to “hat tip” the original person. I hat tip the person where *I* find the deal. If I can easily find the original source, I will do my best, but I’m not going to spend a TON of time trying to dig through and find the original source of a deal
That is precisely my point.
Dan’s content is never original.
You should never be HTing him.
You are better than that.
(PWaC: Removed personal attack)
It sounds like you have some past history with Dan’s Deals Dan (not to be confused with myself as my name is also Dan). As I said, I’m not going to spend a ton of time figuring out who the “original” source is. It looks like you’ve got some good sources yourself – if you send me any deals I’ll be sure to hat tip you instead!!
I like your response. I don’t know why the hate… Why would someone be so personally offended by this?
I saw this same person commenting on Miles to Memories. Seems to be he has a personal agenda against Dan’s Deals.
You really do everyone a disservice by continuing to use words like “mistake” in association with these types of fares. It doesn’t help those who hope to fly; it does help the airlines trying to wiggle out of it.
