Often Chicago misses out on some of the best international flight sales, but that’s not necessarily true of domestic prices. If you’re looking to escape to (or from) The Windy City, American Airlines and Delta are offering great prices on O’Hare airport routes this spring. Each deal is valid on select dates in April and May, and if the absolute lowest price isn’t offered when you can fly then there’s a pretty good chance you can find a price for not much more. Some examples include:

  • To/from Denver for $97
  • To/from Austin from $97
  • To/from Dallas from $115
  • To/from Miami from $140
  • To/from Atlanta from $145
  • To/from Phoenix from $147

These are basic economy fares with Delta and American, which include a carry-on. Unlike most deals, these discounts are generally available only by booking direct, as online travel agencies such as Orbitz and Priceline are not necessarily seeing these prices on all dates.

It is possible to find cheaper fares with low-cost carriers or United, however, these all charge for carry-on bags. That and other fees typically raise the price for a ticket to more than those offered by American and Delta; if you have Premier status with United (or Star Alliance Gold) or a co-branded credit card you can bring a carry-on at no charge. With all 3 major carriers, you can choose to buy up to main cabin and add seat selection in addition to your carry-on, but with this sale the price  bump can be prohibitive. Whatever your choice, these are nice prices for Chicago in spring time, and an excellent opportunity to check out some free museums or position for a much longer trip.
