We have talked a bit before about the recent enhancement to the Wyndham Rewards program where you can now book Vacasa vacation rentals for 15,000 points per bedroom per night.
It’s a bit of a process to book it, so I thought I’d write a bit of a guide on how to do it. Our family just got back from a 5-day stay at an amazing vacation rental in the Smoky Mountains for 67,500 Wyndham points. The cash cost on the vacation rental would have been more than $2,000.
That’s more than 3 cents per point in value from a Wyndham point, which makes Wyndham Rewards possibly the most valuable points out there? They certainly have the case to be the best Capital One Venture Miles transfer partner.
Using Wyndham Rewards Points to Book Vacasa Vacation Rentals
On the surface, using Wyndham Rewards points to book Vacasa vacation rentals is fairly straightforward. It’s 15,000 Wyndham Rewards points per bedroom, per night. So a 1 bedroom vacation rental costs 15,000 Wyndham points per night, a 2 bedroom costs 30,000 Wyndham points per night, and so on. Unfortunately, there isn’t a way to use Wyndham Rewards to book Vacasa vacation rentals online, so you need to either call or email (which we’ll cover below). And, there appear to be a few limits on which vacation rentals you can and cannot book (that aren’t mentioned anywhere in the terms).
Finding the Right Vacation Rental
Finding the right vacation rental on Vacasa is not an issue. Simply go to Vacasa.com and do a search. I would suggest putting in a filter for 1 bedroom, and then however many guests you’re planning on having. Here’s what it looks like for 1 bedroom with 6 guests:
If you have specific dates, you can put those in there. Otherwise, leave the dates empty to get an idea of what vacation rentals are out there. Then you’ll want to pick a specific house. You can easily select different properties, read reviews, look at pictures, check out information for each rental, and see which dates they are available. Many vacation rentals have specific length stays (2 or 3 night minimum), and you can see that as well.
You’ll also see the price listed. You don’t need to worry about that, as the cash cost for booking through Vacasa does not affect the number of Wyndham Rewards points you’ll use — with one exception. Although it’s not listed anywhere in the terms and conditions, it appears that if the average nightly cost of the unit (before taxes and fees) is more than $350 / night, you won’t be able to use Wyndham Rewards points to book your Vacasa vacation rental. An individual night can cost more than $350 as long as the AVERAGE is less than $350.
How to Book Vacasa Vacation Rentals With Wyndham Rewards Points
As I mentioned earlier, you can’t book Vacasa vacation rentals with Wyndham Rewards points online – instead, you’ll need to either call or email. One way to book Vacasa vacation rentals with Wyndham Rewards points is to call the Wyndham Rewards reservation line at 866-996-7937. They will take your information and then call you back within a day or two.
I believe they have an asynchronous process where they have to email Vacasa to confirm availability (and that the price is under $350 / night), which is probably why there is not a way to do it all online. Hopefully they will be able to get their systems connected soon.
The other way you can book Vacasa vacation rentals with Wyndham Rewards points is via email. You can email triprewards.fulfillment@wyndham.com with the dates and Vacasa rental information. They will reply within a few hours or a day whether it is available or not, give you the number of points it requires and ask you to confirm. In both cases, you will confirm your Wyndham account details like the phone number and address on the account as well as two recent transactions on the account. Once you confirm, you’ll shortly get a confirmation email from Vacasa and you’ll be ready for your trip! There is a 30-day cancellation policy, and if you book within 30 days of the stay, the reservation is non-cancellable.
Using Wyndham Credit Cards to Get a Rental for Even Cheaper
15,000 points for a vacation rental is already a pretty great deal, but you can get it even cheaper using one of the Wyndham Rewards credit cards.
All three of the Wyndham Rewards credit cards give you a 10% discount on Wyndham award stays. That’s why our 5 night stay cost 67,500 points instead of 75,000 points. So these Wyndham credit cards are great as a source of Wyndham Rewards points as well as getting you 10% back on your stay. I got the Wyndham Business credit card and plan to keep it after the annual fee posts. The 15,000 points you get for your anniversary are worth significantly more to me than the $99 annual fee.
The Bottom Line
Where this becomes an even more amazing deal is that there is a wide variety of what constitutes a “1 bedroom” vacation rental. The cabin we stayed at is a “1 bedroom” but SLEEPS TEN! Now, it would be a mildly uncomfortable 10 people if you had five couples, but for a family or family reunion, it would be definitely doable. Check out the available listings on Vacasa and book your next trip for an amazing deal.

Dan, I plan to transfer my Venture card miles to Wyndham after reading your post. I originally wrote you with the intent to transfer to Aeroplan but this looks like a bigger yield. Thank you. I would like to ask an additional question. I recentley booked a flight on American Airlines and used my Advantage miles to purchase seat upgrades. I had to cancel the flight and I lost those 6K+ miles. I called and was told because I had canceled the miles were not eligible for redeposit. Does that sound right to you. I didn’t realize those miles would go away :(.
Hi Mike – that does sound like what would happen. You might be able to try calling again or reaching out via Twitter and seeing if they’ll do you a favor and refund you those miles but I’d imagine that it’s technically non-refundable
Hi Dan!
After reading your post, i am very much interested in transferring my Venture card miles to Wyndham. I loved your post and the way of writing. When i was exploring the internet, i found your post. Simply outstanding and very unique. Your post is very informative for me.
Thank you.
