A few months ago, I mentioned how I had applied for the BBVA NBA credit card. The BBVA NBA credit card had an increased signup bonus of 20,000 points (good for a $200 statement credit) after meeting the minimum spend, but the main reason I applied for the BBVA NBA credit card was that it gives 5% off ALL purchases during NBA All Star Weekend as well as during the NBA Finals. For 2016, the NBA All Star game is today, but the 5% should be on all purchases for the weekend (Friday through Sunday) so hopefully you’ve been hitting it hard already!
Analysis from my All Star weekend with the BBVA NBA credit card
I probably could have maximized things on my BBVA NBA credit card a little better, but I have done a few gift card purchases at my local grocery and drug stores. Last year, there was a limit of $5,000 per day, but per Doctor of Credit, that has been raised to $10K this year.
There HAVE been some reports that gift card purchases made on the BBVA NBA credit card did not manually credit last summer, and I believe the terms do say that gift cards or other cash equivalents are not considered qualifying purchases (see this Doctor of Credit post)
Now let’s hear your BBVA NBA credit card data points
So what about you? Where and how did you use (or are you STILL USING) your BBVA NBA credit card? Share your notes and data points in the comments

The 10K daily limit is not for everyone. I’m still at 5K and have called at least 3 times this weekend trying to raise it to 10K, but for whatever reason, my account can only be at 5k a day. I’m guessing this is due to my spending habits (I only spend on 5x promos). A friend of mine just opened an account and they were able to raise his daily limit to 15K. So it really depends on the account.
That’s a bummer. I did have a problem with a declined transaction halfway through my day on Saturday (it might have been when I tried to go above $5K – don’t remember for sure). I had to call in and it took awhile but eventually they were able to lift it and I ended up with about $10K in spend
I have two transactions one on – 2/12 + 2/13. The first posted before the end of the week end– the 2nd didn’t post until Monday the 15th. Not sure how that will play out.
