Virtually every company is finding new ways to deal with this pandemic. They’re trying to protect their income, increase customer loyalty, and maybe even grow. We’ve seen the major financial companies lengthen your minimum spend window, help you achieve status, and Southwest even extended your Companion Passes!

Some of these benefits are definitely useful! I personally think expanding the hotel credits for restaurant use is a nice touch during a period of travel restrictions. Ideally, AmEx could have given us all the statement credit automatically, but that’s probably not a realistic option. I can hope! $20 monthly on streaming services will cover your Netflix, and I just switched my payment card for Google Fi to my AmEx Platinum. (My phone bill is only about $25, so a $20 credit is great!) Remember before switching your payment though, the AmEx Platinum doesn’t offer cell phone insurance like some ards do when you pay your monthly bill.

I don’t think google fi will code as a cell phone provider
You’re probably right – I’ll have to report back!
What’s so incongruous about this is the frenzied actions of the RAT team at the same time. It’s like some weird multiple personality disorder from AMEX, trying to both avidly keep customers and fervently drive them off. I think the mixed messages don’t help their cause.
I couldn’t but think the same thing..
