After flying from New York JFK to London Heathrow (LHR) in American Airlines business class, I had the opportunity to visit the American Airlines LHR / London Heathrow Arrivals Lounge. In this American Airlines LHR / London Heathrow Arrivals Lounge review, I’ll run through the food, wifi speed, seating and other lounge amenities so you can decide if this is worth a visit on your next trip to London Heathrow / LHR.
American Airlines LHR / London Heathrow Arrivals Lounge access requirements
To access any American Airlines Flagship Business Lounge, you must meet one of three requirements:
- Flying in Flagship® First, Flagship® Business Plus or Flagship® Business on American Airlines
- At least AAdvantage Executive Platinum® or AAdvantage Platinum Pro®
- Flying in First or Business Class on British Airways
- oneworld Emerald
My family had flown business class on American, departing from New York JFK (JFK-LHR), so we all had access to the American Airlines LHR / London Heathrow Arrivals Lounge
American Airlines LHR / London Heathrow Terminal 3 Arrivals Lounge location
The American Airlines LHR / London Heathrow Arrivals airport lounge location is in Terminal 3, after going through immigration and customs. Once you enter the main terminal hall, you’ll see this sign
Follow the arrow to the right. You’ll see another sign, directing you to an elevator
Follow the elevator up to the 2nd floor
American Airlines LHR / London Heathrow Arrivals Lounge seating
Seating is fairly tight at the American Airlines LHR / London Heathrow Arrivals Lounge, with only one small main area.
There are a few auxiliary areas as well. We were on a later bank of flights (arrival time 10:30 a.m.), but I could imagine that the American Airlines London Heathrow / LHR Arrivals Lounge could get pretty crowded during the main bank of flights (around 7 or 8 a.m.)
American Airlines LHR / London Heathrow Arrivals Lounge Review: food
When I visited in early 2024, there was a simple buffet of food at the American Airlines LHR / London Heathrow Arrivals Lounge.
We were there at 11 a.m. when they started changing the food over from breakfast to lunch.
There were also soft drinks and water available
You could also order food and Bloody Marys off a small a la carte menu.
I had an eggs benedict which was quite tasty. I joked that in America, this is often served on an English Muffin, but in London, it’s just served on a “muffin” 🙂
American Airlines LHR / London Heathrow Arrivals Lounge wifi
The American Airlines LHR / London Heathrow Arrivals Lounge wifi was pretty fast.
I had no trouble doing light browsing and email.
American Airlines London Heathrow Arrivals Lounge Shower Rooms
The food is okay, but you’ve probably just eaten on your business class flight if you are arriving to London (though I actually slept through breakfast). But the biggest amenity and reason to go to the American Airlines London Heathrow Arrivals Lounge is the shower rooms, especially if you’re not able to get to your hotel or other destination because it’s early in the morning.
To reserve a shower room, you’ll speak to the shower attendant, who is in the main check-in area. Again, I could see how this might get quite busy earlier in the day, but at 11 a.m. or so, there was no wait.
The shower rooms are small, but have a sink and toilet in addition to the shower.
There’s also a small closet to hang your clothes up if you need, though obviously that was not needed in my case. Valet ironing is also available at the AA London Heathrow Arrivals Lounge, though again I did not use it.

The shower was small, but the water was hot and the pressure was good. Shampoo and body wash are provided.
American Airlines LHR / London Heathrow Arrivals Lounge amenities
Besides the shower area and the food, there isn’t much in the way of amenities. There are small restrooms in the main area, as well as a small business center.

The Bottom Line – American Airlines LHR / London Heathrow Arrivals Lounge Review
If you have access to the American Airlines LHR / London Heathrow Arrivals Lounge on arrival, you should consider joining, especially if you want some food and/or a shower. The seating options were reasonable at least when I was there. The food is okay though not amazing. The Wifi is solid and it’s definitely a place worth visiting if you want a shower before you start your day.
