Who doesn’t love free airline miles? That’s why you’re here reading Points With a Crew, right?
American Airlines is currently pushing people to sign up for their weekly cruise newsletter – by giving you the chance to win up to 500,000 AAdvantage miles this year. Here’s what you need to do to sign up, super simple:
- Go to the giveaway page here.
- Enter your email, zip code, first and last name, and AAdvantage member number in the fields provided.
- Hit submit.
- (Then unsubscribe from the email list after the prize is drawn in February/March.)
You stand to win 500,000 AAdvantage miles, and a cruise for two! There will be one (1) grand prize winner, receiving 500,000 AAdvantage miles and one (1) cruise for two people (valued at $3,000). An additional five (5) first prize winners will receive 100,000 AAdvantage miles.
Participants are limited to one entry per AAdvantage number, and you have until the end of the year to enter (11:59:59 local time on December 31st, 2019).
What’s the catch?
Well, there really isn’t one. Airlines make their money on cruise bookings the same way travel agents do. Essentially, if you book a cruise through American Airlines, they’re taking a cut off the top, before passing the money onto the cruise line. That’s their commission. They usually incentivize you even further by offering bonus miles on booking, free drinks, or something else.
American wants you to get on their email list, in the hopes you’ll book your next cruise through their system. As always, shop around for the best price prior to booking your cruise (or booking anything). What have you got to lose?
Good luck, I hope one of our readers wins the grand prize!

There is a CATCH – a huge one.
You have to have a US postal address even if you have been an Aadvantage Member for 30 years!
Every time a loyalty program tries this crap on for size I make a huge note in my book NOT TO USE THEM
