Reeeally, Dan, did you actually check to see if any of these cards were still available before adding it to your daily email.? Were you ever actually able to purchase ANY of these cards?
Seriously. ?
I tried with eight of them during the course of the day, and EVERY single one had sold out and filled (misleading) wait lists within the very fist minute. Several of them I can personally vouch for sold out within the very first milesecond. (American Eagle, JCP, Uber, Petsmart, Air BNB, Cabel’s, Children’s Place, etc.)
So what gives? Are these Amazon “Prime” Days promos more hype than reality? (and you and other bloggers part of the problem…. as you get paid for adding to the “buzz”)
But what’s in the actual reality? How many of these cards were actually ever available? And did you or ANY of your readers actually get one of the above listed stocks (ahem, cards) ?
Reminds me of the bad ole’ days of watching thousands line up in the cold outside BestBuy day after thanksgiving…. thinking they might have a shot at getting the super deal whatever, only to find out later than they only had 3 available at each store….. and they went to the store manager’s friends.
Yes, sour grapes.
I’d like to see some serious candor on this subject. Or are you and the supplicant financial media all too hesitant to bite the amazon hand that feeds you?
I’ve got no problem writing about this regardless of what hand may or may not feed me (pennies or dollars :-D). I wrote the post Tuesday morning with a list of the GC deals that were going on during Prime Day.
As always, the daily emails are automated and go out the day after so many times the deals are for the previous day and no longer valid. Which is why in this particular case I sent out a special email yesterday afternoon.
As for how fast they sold out, I’ve heard many people talk about that. I personally did not try for any of them but I wouldn’t be surprised if there were bots involved.
