I got a spending offer in my email this afternoon that may be of some interest to folks. It says that it is specific to my account, but it’s not clear how many people it was sent to or if it might work for others with the Chase IHG card
(SEE ALSO: Why you should get 2 IHG cards at the same time)
From 10/1/16-12/31/16, use your IHG® Rewards Club Credit Card, and earn an additional 1 point per $1 spent on each single purchase of $1,000 or more — earn up to 8,000 bonus points!
So it’s only for large purchases (over $1000), and you’re only getting 1 additional point. Not the greatest promotion, but might be worth doing if you’re looking to build up your IHG point balances. As a reminder, you get 5 points / $1 on IHG spend, 2 points / $1 at gas stations, grocery stores and restaurants and 1 point / $1 on everything else.
I don’t think the IHG card is generally a great one to put everyday spend on, but it IS one of the 4 cards I will pay the annual fee on.

Any vgc of 1000 still around? ReloadIt used to, I believe.
one of the most underwhelming offers ever to come out of the IHG shop….. Ok, one might pick up two $500 gc’s in a single purchase on-line, (risk getting flagged for that) and get 2k ihg points for your trouble. Just 2k (worth what? $10?) By contrast, same purchase on the club carlson would get us 5k of the cc pesos…. ho hum to either.
Agree – this is pretty underwhelming. I also saw reports of people with the Chase British Airways card getting a similar offer – it’s at least a little better when you’re earning Avios instead of IHG points!
I got this email and I understood the offer in a different way. In order to get 1 extra poring per $1 you need to spend at least $1000 and you will get up to 8000 bonus points in every purchase. So you need to spend a total of $1000 and up to $8000 it can be any amount as long as you expend $1000. I got confused when I read this blog so I called Chase and they clarified for me.
What was the clarification Chase gave you? If i can get 8000, points for a $1000 purchase I might consider it.
