Gift cards possibly worth buying
Of course you can actually buy actual MERCHANDISE with your 6% eBay bucks but where’s the fun in that. I’ll be buying gift cards to hopefully resell. Here were a few that caught my eye
- $100 ITunes gift cards for $85 (sell at 68.5%)
- $100 Exxon card for $92 (sell at 87%)
- $100 BP card for $93 (sell at 89%)
- $100 Sears gift card for $88 (limit 3) (sell at 84%)
- $50 Cabelas gift card for $42.50 (limit 3) (sell at 76%)
Doctor of Credit has a listing of a couple of other cards on sale that might make sense.
Make sure to go through a shopping portal first. Although a variety of the cashback portals are offering around 1%, I personally went through the American AAdvantage shopping portal – their back to school promotion gives 1500 bonus miles for spending $750. I completed my shopping bonus, so I’ll essentially earn 3 AA miles for each dollar.

The Itunes and Sears cards are sold by Paypal Digital Gifts, so they should earn 5x on a Chase Ink card or other card that gives bonus points on office supply stores. The Cabelas card is not as great of a deal as it is sold at 85% but could be useful for meeting minimum spend when you consider eBay bucks and portal cashback.

How much transaction fees do you have to pay to resell these cards? And do you ship them directly to buyers or to the Web-company that acts as an intermediary?
