Which lounge? Reviewing the Cathay Pacific HKG Business Class lounges in Hong Kong Airport.  There are actually 5 (FIVE!) different Cathay Pacific business class lounges in the Hong Kong Airport (HKG).  On our recent stopover in Hong Kong, we spent some time reviewing the 4 different Hong Kong airport lounges to see if there was definitively one that was better than the others.  To set the stage, here is a map of the 4 different Cathay Pacific business class lounges at HKG.

We didn’t go to The Arrival, The Pier lounge was closed for construction when we went, and this map does not show the newly added “G16” business lounge near Gate 16 but it should give you an idea of where the Cathay Pacific business class lounges are in the Hong Kong airport.

Our first stop on the day was to the G16 lounge which is (oddly enough!), right near Gate 16, a short walk past security. The lounge is up an escalator and signed as a Dragonair lounge

It had a small selection of hot food in addition to snacks and drinks. I had the spaghetti bolognese, which was surprisingly tasty!

After relaxing here a bit, we continued onwards towards our next Hong Kong airport lounge

The next Cathay Pacific business class lounge that we stopped at was The Wing, which is opposite Gate 3, also a short walk past security. The agents at The Wing asked to see our lounge invitations (which the Cathay check-in agents had given to us along with our boarding passes when we checked in). We didn’t have the actual printed invitations any more (the agents at G16 had kept them), but that was apparently not a big problem

The Wing business class lounge had a variety of snacks, as well as a place where chefs were making hot food.

After we spent some time in The Wing, we realized we were running out of time before our flight was going to start boarding. Wanting to finish our lounge-hopping tour, we left and headed onto The Cabin

The Cabin business class lounge is located near Gate 23, down a set of stairs or elevator.

The Cabin lounge had a similar food setup to the other Cathay Pacific business class lounges that we visited

Seating was cozy and plentiful

The bridge lounge is near gate 39, right where the terminal splits, with gates 40-59 going to the left and gates 60-80 going to the right

You go down an escalator to the check-in area where, once again, there is a cadre of attendants to check your boarding pass and invite you into the lounge. We were directed that showers were to the left and there were dining areas to both the left and the right, though I wish they would have told us that the “good” dining area is to the right 🙂

We went there first and after a brief stop made our way back past the entrance desk to the other side of The Bridge lounge, which features “The Bakery”. I found the food at the Bakery to be much better. In addition to a variety of Asian cuisine, there was a custom sandwich maker as well as even 2 varieties of pizza!

The thing I found most odd was the door to the bathrooms, which just looked like this

It looked like just part of the wall! It was a bit tricky to figure out that you just push the door to head into the restrooms

We didn’t have much time to spend in The Bridge as we had to hurry and catch our departing flight onwards to Singapore.

So, after all that lounge hopping, which Cathay Pacific business class lounge is best?  I would say that there isn’t one that is markedly better than the others so if you only have a limited time, I would just go to the one nearest your departing gate!
