An enterprising redditor has found what appears to be a pretty great deal through various shopping portals. You can get 2200 American AAdvantage miles for a purchase at web hoster 1&1 through the American shopping portal.
1&1 has a 30 day free trial available, so while you do have to put in a credit card for payment, you shouldn’t have to actually pay anything as long as you cancel before the 30 days is up. You do NOT need to sign up for a domain name, and if you do (for 99 cents), it is NOT refundable. Just sign up for the 30 day trial, put in your information, and proceed with the order. I selected only one month instead of the annual plan just in case I forgot to cancel. The cancel link is at http://my.1and1.com/ContractAutorenew
Other programs also available
Because the shopping portals are all run by the same company, it should be no surprise that other programs are also available. It appears that you can also choose to get your choice of
- Alaska Air: 1800 miles
- United: 1900 miles
- AA: 2200 miles
- Barclay: 2500 miles
- Southwest: 1800 miles
My suspicion is that you could not get miles if you signed up for all 6 of these at once, but give it a try if you want!
But will the miles post?
Dunno. It’s certainly possible that if/when you cancel the 30 day trial that the miles will be clawed back from the portal. If you wanted to, you could just purchase one month for $12.99 and cancel afterwards. Personally, I signed my wife and I up both up and plan on canceling in a few days and will just roll the dice that the miles were post.

Thanks for the tip! Signed up for both myself and my husband. And I’ve been considering creating a website, so this gives me a chance to try it!
thanks for posting this! i used a citi virtual account number with $1 maximum charge 🙂
I’ll also add that I used to use 1&1 for my wedding website hosting…they were cheap and good, so if anyone is thinking of staying with them after the trial, I’d recommend them. 🙂 I’ve since switched to Namecheap myself (also highly recommended).
1&1 seems to have disappeared from AA eShopping…
You idiots! What did you think would happen when you published article!
I thought that hundreds if not thousands of people would be able to take advantage of it. It’s not like this was some sort of “trick” or “loophole” that you might be able to take advantage of multiple times. This deal had a limited-time shelf-life no matter what
Seriously? You thought 1&1 would just keep shelling out for 2200 miles for free. There’s clearly nothing we can say that will help you
Well done genius!!! Post the offer on a public forum and it’s gone within 12 hours. Muppet!!
Dan, you’re a fool. Well done.
Please take this down, your 5 mins of fame are over.
This deal has been going for years. You American fools ruined it. As per usual.
Your blog is dead.
This was posted on Doctor of Credit yesterday. It was never going to last long. Thanks for letting some of us get in on the deal before it died!
It’s been going for a loooong time. And it would have lasted for much longer if it wasn’t for blogs like this.
Think before you post Dan!
Haters gonna hate. Thanks for sharing this, I personally appreciate you sharing deals like this with the rest of us who wouldn’t otherwise have found it.
And it is down on United as well!
Just to let you all know that miles posted today with AA. I signed up on the date of this blog posted. Yay for free miles!!
Yes – mine posted too
I just noticed that my miles were “clawed back” when I didn’t renew my subscription. 🙁
Yeah, the miles were taken away from my account too!
Me three! 🙁
