Visiting airport lounges is probably one of my favorite credit card perks. While I know that the food is generally not great and (depending on the lounge), to me there is just something exciting about being “away” from the terminal. I have been to some pretty amazing lounges over the years, including the Capital One Lounge in Dallas, where I will go out of my way to schedule layovers through Dallas if I can’t fly direct.

But most of my lounge visits come through Priority Pass, which is a program and credit card perk that offers access to over 1,400 airport lounges throughout the world.
The Worst Priority Pass Lounge In The World
I have been to some really bad Priority Pass lounges, but most of them I would classify as “mid”. I mean, when you visit, say, The Club CVG (which I often do!), you know what you’re getting. The food is pretty basic, it has some basic drink options, and decent wifi and seating options (with tarmac views!).
When my family and I went to Hawaii a few years ago, at one point we transited through the Honolulu airport on our way home. We stopped first at the Plumeria lounge in HNL Terminal 1 and then since our flight was leaving out of Terminal 2, we visited the IASS Hawaii Lounge, which I classified as the WORST Priority Pass Lounge in the country.
It has literally NO food, just some coffee makers and a drink cabinet with a few cans of Coke products. There was plenty of seating I suppose, because there’s nothing to do there – we stayed about 5 minutes and I hope Capital One enjoyed paying $28 times 7 (or whatever the reimbursement rate is) for our 7 cans of soda…
Honolulu’s Plumeria Lounge Leaving Priority Pass
So all that is to say that I was bummed to see the news that as of April 1st, 2025, the Plumeria Lounge in HNL Terminal 1 will be leaving Priority Pass. That will mean as far as I know that the only Priority Pass lounge in HNL will be the super sad IASS Hawaii lounge.
I can’t say that I am too surprised – when we were in Hawaii, I visited the Plumeria Lounge a few times during our visit, including with my son as we visited 5 Hawaiian islands in one day. It was already crowded since it also serves as the elite flyer lounge for Hawaiian Airlines. When we were there, there was a separate waitlist for Priority Pass members and it took us probably 20 or 30 minutes to get into the lounge. I’m guessing they probably decided that they had too many elite Hawaiian Airlines flyers and could no longer accommodate Priority Pass travelers.
The Bottom Line
With the Plumeria Lounge in HNL Terminal 1 leaving Priority Pass as of April 1, that will leave the super-sad IASS Hawaii lounge in HNL Terminal 2 as the only Priority Pass option in Honolulu. I visited the IASS Hawaii lounge a few years ago and have to rate that as the worst Priority Pass lounge that I have ever personally visited and perhaps the worst one in the world.
