In 2024, we had a family trip booked to California and Yosemite National Park. We were flying in and out of Oakland Airport (OAK). After looking at a few options, we decided to book the Holiday Inn and Suites – Oakland Airport. This Holiday Inn and Suites – Oakland Airport review will give an idea of the different amenities and features of the hotel and hopefully help you decide if you want to stay here if you’re looking for a Oakland airport hotel.
Holiday Inn and Suites – Oakland Airport location
The Holiday Inn and Suites – Oakland Airport is located at 77 Hegenberger Road Oakland, California 94621. This is less than 1/2 mile from San Francisco Bay Oakland Airport, and is quite convenient to the airport. This hotel is not to be confused with the Holiday Inn Express and Suites – Oakland Airport, which is down the street and where we stayed at the beginning of our trip.

There is a Holiday Inn and Suites – Oakland Airport shuttle, which costs $10 per room (billed to your room) if you use it. You can also use the shuttle to take you to nearby locations, including the rental car center.
Holiday Inn and Suites – Oakland Airport cost
We used points at the Holiday Inn and Suites – Oakland Airport, paying 24,000 IHG points for our rom. The cash cost for a similar room was $164.67. That gives a cents per point (CPP) value of around 0.69 cents per point, which is about in line with how I value IHG points. Of course your numbers will vary slightly depending on the dates that you’re looking to stay here.

Holiday Inn and Suites – Oakland Airport review – room
We had reserved a room with 2 queen beds at the Holiday Inn and Suites – Oakland Airport, which was exactly what we got.
The room had a small desk area with a TV, mini fridge and a microwave (sorry for the blurry picture)
The bathroom was also near the front of the room, with a toilet and small sink.
As well as a shower with bulk toiletries (as seems to be the standard).
Holiday Inn and Suites – Oakland Airport wifi and amenities
Wifi is complimentary in the lobby and in the guest rooms for IHG members. The Holiday Inn and Suites – Oakland Airport wifi speed was decent, though I did not get a picture of a speed test.
There is a Holiday Inn and Suites – Oakland Airport outdoor pool, which is open until 10pm
There is also a Holiday Inn and Suites – Oakland Airport fitness center with the basic equipment
Laundry is also available at the hotel, with a washer and dryer each costing $2.25. Soap and other laundry supplies are also available.
There is a small computer and printer next to the front desk that is available for guests, if you need to print a boarding pass, directions or anything.
And then not an amenity per se, but when I checked in, they mentioned that they would give 5,000 points for responding to the email survey and giving them a 10. Obviously this is worth doing – I never got a survey but when I emailed the hotel about it, they just put 5,000 points in our account.
Holiday Inn and Suites – Oakland Airport hotel review – parking
The Holiday Inn and Suites – Oakland Airport parking is in a small parking lot directly attached to the hotel. Because it is so close to the Oakland (OAK) airport, it does have a gate like if you were entering a parking garage. The cost for parking is $3 / hour or $20 / night, which will be billed directly to your room.
As I mentioned earlier, there is also a Holiday Inn and Suites – Oakland Airport shuttle, which costs $10 per use (per room, not per person). There is a 15 minute grace period on the parking charge, or you can get up to 3 hours free if you buy food at the attached restaurant
Holiday Inn and Suites – Oakland Airport food
As is the case with most Holiday Inn hotels, there is no complimentary breakfast or other food at the hotel. While normally our family values free breakfast when booking a hotel, we had a 6am flight the next morning, so we knew we wouldn’t be able to have breakfast anyways.
Instead, they have the Diamonds Sports Bar and Grill located off the lobby. This is a standard restaurant – it was fairly empty when we arrived in the evening, and it was closed when we left in the morning, so I wasn’t able to get a picture of the breakfast menu or offerings.
There is a small outdoor eating area that guests can enjoy.
As well as a market near the front desk where you can buy overpriced food, snacks and toiletries.
The Bottom Line – Holiday Inn and Suites – Oakland Airport hotel review
Overall this was a decent stay if you need an Oakland airport hotel. We were only here for a few hours due to having to leave at about 3:30 a.m. to return our rental car and make our early morning flight. Still, it was everything you are looking for in an airport hotel – comfortable beds, good breakfast and super convenient hotel. It is a bit unfortunate that there is a charge for the shuttle and parking, but I understand why it’s there. The Holiday Inn and Suites – Oakland Airport can definitely be a great option if you’re looking for a Oakland airport hotel.

Is that a Homeless Hotel also like the rest?
While I know you are not asking a serious question, I did not see any homeless people at the hotel (though I didn’t go door to door to check)
The homeless are on the pavements and streets of Oakland… I guess they are keeping them out of the airport..
