An Amazon Prime Air 767 operated by Atlas Air crashed yesterday, February 23, 2019 into a bay short of their destination of Houston, near Anahuac, Texas. The plane had been in the air for just over 2 hours, en route from Miami. The FAA has stated that there were three crew aboard.

It is odd that the pilot and crew did not make a distress call. The aircraft made a very steep descent according to the flight tracker, falling 3,500 feet in 30 seconds. The National Transportation Safety Board will obviously be investigating the crash. It has been a number of years since the last cargo plane crash within the U.S. The most recent occurred in 2013, when there were two separate fatal incidents.
My thoughts are with the crew and their families. Plane crashes involving loss of life are always heartbreaking to see and hear about. Authorities investigating the crash have recovered human remains, and there are believed to be no survivors.
